SANTO DOMINGO.- The Police began an extensive investigation to establish the circumstances in which four men, one yet to identify, were shot dead and their bodies left in the woods 30 kilometers north of the capital on the Duarte Highway midnight Wednesday.
Some of the victims were shot in the chest and all have a bullet wound in the head, leading investigators to believe they were executed.
The Police said Ramon Paulino Valdez, 32, Carlos Manuel Vicente Rivas, 33, Elvin Nouel Diaz Domínguez and the other unidentified man were found around midnight with multiple bullet wounds to different parts of the body.
It said Paulino is the owner of a used car dealership located on the avenue 27 de Febrero.
The bodies were sent to the Forensics Institute as Police investigators gather evidence at the scene which may lead to the perpetrators.
The latest crime is the worst single killings since the August, 2007 “Bani bloodbath,” where seven Colombians were executed in the village Ojo de Agua, near the town Paya, in the country’s southwest province Peravia.

This will likely have more in common with Bani than we know. Can anyone say "inside job" done by RD officials who job it is to uphold law and order. A failed state. Still, the US DEA doesn't have a clue...
The CIA now those guys have their stuff together. They send in the Drones (un manned small aircraft) into parts of Afghanistan and take out known targets (without putting US military in harms way). The CIA can take out entire buildings etc. Now, I have to respect a US dept that is doing the job! Much respect for the US CIA but unfortunately I can not say the same for US DEA (which is why you see these negative spillover effects throughout the region.
There are many, many US DEA & DHS agents stationed at our embassy in la capital. Now, what are they doing since it clearly isn't there work? Why did it take years, many years to follow-up on the Capt Paulino trial? I have a theory on the US DEA ineffectiveness...

In another site ,it was reported that a man had been shot seven times while he was sleeping and that the murderers were poliice who had shot him in the leg the week before .This follows on from the murder by the police of the two alleged kidnappers in Nagua ..I suspect that these four men in the above story may have also been shot by the police.
This primitive form of summary justice, which regrettably is supported and encouraged here from time to time is the worst form of improper and illegal authoritarian conduct and has to be stamped out so we do not become like Argentina or Chile in years past

I know that they are trying to collect forensic evidence that will lead authorities to the perpetrators, but based on the way that the victims were executed, it sound more to me like a drug deal gone bad.
Why even exhaust government resources to find the executioners of drug dealers, they actually did the police and the community a favor. They did the dirty job, now give them a medal and keep on moving.
Even if these guys were found dead with kilos of cocaine, their families and friends will always tell the media that they were hard working family men that did not hurt nobody, and they do not understand why would someone do something like this to them. Meanwhile they own a mansion and luxury vehicles when they were supposed to be barely making it with the money that they were making legally.
Just the same o same o.

Why do they have to show these graphic pictures?
Not everyone would want to see dead bodies in a morgue.
Most western countries would have refrained from such display.

Glomareexplorer,
Nothing like selling papers.......and to think many will pay to go to the movies, see violence, graphic detail killings with good ol special effects, then call it entertainment.
After reading this article, makes you wanna go HUMM ! like..........
1. Four dead found in the woods off a main highway ? [nothing like a quick escape]
2. All shot in the chest and HEAD ? [execution]
3. Found around midnight ? [darn good street lighting I'm sure]
4. Possibly a hit, revenge or a deal gone wrong ? [wait until the revenge / pay-back]

You could buy some murders and pay them to kill people in DR , I think every country can happen this type of things., but in DR, it is much easily to do this.
One thing that DR needs to start think is the """""CAPITAL PUNISHMENT""""""""., the law is uses to protect the people who abides by the law ,, not to protect people who abuses the law.

THINK,
After thinking about it.....your right like under special circumstances, first degree, multiply murders, murders committed in the commission of a felony, but with the current laws, under the table deals and a corrupt legal system I don't see this happening in the near future.
One has to wonder at what point would the People, Government except the death penalty ?
That law enforcement badge reading "Ley y orden" ?
