Santiago.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) yesterday issued alerts for the residents of Atlantic coast and central provinces, especially those who live in the Yuna river’s lower basin.

The alert says heavy showers will continue as a trough affects that part of the national territory since yesterday, leaving in its wake 1,231 houses flooded in Puerto Plata, 6,155 people in shelters and four communities cut off in Espaillat province.

Yesterday afternoon’s bulletin issued by COE warns of flash floods in Puerto Plata communities by an overflowed Maranatha river, where its residents were evacuated from their homes.
