SANTO DOMINGO. - The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) today incinerated more than 2.5 tons of cocaine, 23,152 marijuana plants, 63 kilos of heroin, more than 150 kilos of phenyl-acetic acid and 923,000 tablets of pseudo-ephedrine, in addition to adornments, accessories and garments with images of drugs.
Most of the substances were incinerated in the post of the 1st Brigade Army, in the presence of DNCD president Rolando Rosado; Police chief Rafael Guzmán, Justice Ministry representatives and other officials.
The drugs had been seized since August 15, during Rosado’s tenure, among these 810 packages of cocaine found in Caucedo Multimodal Port, Boca Chica; as well as 485 kilos from Fausto Andres Mercedes, Pedro Alejandro Mota, Daniel Esteban Alvarez and Luciano Caamaño, airdropped near Samaná’s coast by a small plane.
There were also more than 254 kilos of cocaine seized from one Alex "El Pelotero" in Villa Mella, who was later arrested.
