Santo Domingo. – Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez yesterday delivered to National Drugs Council (CND) president Mabel Feliz part of the assets which belonged to ex Army captain Quirino Paulino, worth more than RD$374 million, to be used to prevent drug consumption and trafficking.
Jiménez said the documents for Paulino’s 12 properties are appraised at RD$374.8 million, of which several institutions which treat and prevent drug consumption demanded the transfer of 15% of those assets, in accordance with Law 72-02 on money laundering. “In this manner, the Justice Ministry reaffirms its commitment to confront the problem of drugs and its related crimes.”
He said the assets received are the result of the agreement with the New York South District judicial authorities, after Paulino’s plea bargaining on drug trafficking charges in the United States.
The official said the properties include lots, apartments, houses and the farm “Belkis Elizabeth” located in western San Juan province.

But don't forget the liquidated assets will be used to cover Administrative costs (salaries and bonuses)....
We will do our customy "dog & pony show" with US officials at fancy hotels so, they will think we are doing the job (when we are NOT).
There is a big gap on... what is "preached" vs. what is "practiced" and happens in reality.
No SUVs please !
What about Hipolito's properties? Everyone knows that Quirino was his boy and that Hipolito remained in his (Quirino's) pocket during his entire "shameful" presidency. What about Pepe Goico's properties? I mean -- goodness -- a little "coronelcito" that earns comparatively less than a corporal (cavo) in the U.S. Marine Corps -- with all that property to his name. Want credibility when it comes to saying that we're serious about fighting corruption? -- then take on those cats.
The problem is that those who live in glass houses also, like the criminal PLD mafia and Don Cornolie-onelito can't throw stones cause then everybody house comes tumbling down;
even Alejandrina “water down the milk” Guzman's, Radames “lights out” Segura, Senator “root canal for the people of San Pedro” Williams, Diandino, “cost overrun” Peña, and Jaime “sold out my career for a cementera” David Mirbal, just to name a few comesolos!
you know some is still hidden under concrete in DR...
Perhaps not all of the money will make its way to the intended places; however, a good start, nevertheless.
