Even though I was but a little boy during this man's courageous call to duty, I remember his name very fondly, as it was mentioned frequently in my household.
Men of his character come around but once a generation.
Indeed, it is too bad that these great men are gone and there is no one of their courage, fortitude, patriotism and integrity to pick up and carry the torch.
Great patriot and soldier, may God almighty guide you to your place of peace. The Dominican nation mourns your passing very deeply and solemnly, and we are grateful for your patriotism and your exemplary execution of duty.
Please, join other great ones who preceded you, for you've clearly earned that right and privilege.
