Santo Domingo.– The murder of Colonel José Amado Gonzalez y Gonzalez is a challenge for the Police investigators, who so far have questioned several people involved in the case.

The officer, who was ambushed and shot to death Thursday night as he arrived home at Torre Serena, in Avenida Anacaona, in the Bella Vista sector, had been placed on retirement following the case of the Puerto Rican fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto.

According to the Police, the body received thirteen bullet shots and 32 caps where found in the building.

El Nuevo Diario newspaper reported that the Police’s Criminal Investigations Department found an abandoned SUV (Mazda CX-9), probably the one used by the perpetrators.

Really - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they didn't want this guy talking as the pressure mounts and the investigation progressively starts to hone in on some key people.

He'd already been placed on (forced) retirement due to the overwhelming evidence against him and it would've been a matter of time before he started to spill the beans on others. Typical.

HE is the first of many who will fall.

The program will be to kill the current military leadership and install a completely corrupt cabal of drug dealers dressed in military clothing. Each one who refuses to fall in line will fall dead.

There is NO ONE.....NOT ONE SINGLE INDIVIDUAL in the Dominican government who is safe....LIE-onel can no longer trust his military leadership to protect him or his family....he should hire someone to taste his food today!

The DR is a spineless failed state of excuse making citizens with no chance of evolving beyond an island of low paid CAFTA workers.

Perhaps the DR's PN pays great salaries, where their staff officers can afford expensive homes & apts in areas such as Av. Anacaona. Then of course, this Col.'s family may have been wealthy. It would be interesting to see how many Military and Police officials live in luxury homes and drive expensive vehicles. As others have commented earlier, look for others to meet their maker in the same way. This may be a good thing for the DR, a reality check, so to speak.

When will LIE-onel Fernandez hold a live press conference with the national and international press asking him question on the drug war violence that is engulfing the nation?

Also, when will the national and international press ask the former lawyer with a hole in his shoe and beat up Volkswagen Beetle, prior to 1996, to account for the EXTRAORDINARY WELATH he and Margarita have accumulated to date?

These men deserve honorable mention:

Entre los senadores que acompañaron a Guerrero en el juicio que se le siguió en la sala de audiencia de la SCJ, estuvieron Charlie Mariotti (Monte Plata), Radhamés Peña (Valverde), Amilcar Romero (Duarte), Germán Castro (La Altagracia), Antonio Cruz (Santiago Rodríguez), Heinz Vieluf Cabrera (Montecristi), Diego Aquino Acosta (Bahoruco) y Ramón de la Rosa (San Juan de la Maguana).

The island is for sale and the government is willing to sell it.
The Columbians are here and they want what is justly theirs, after all they paid for it.
You see the government has always had the side of the law behind them for normal people like you and me. They steal your money and then use the law to protect themselves from any retrubution.
Except now the Columbians and the Russians arent going to eat the garbage these people have handed out in the past.
I say now help the Columbians and Russians clean up the corrupt mess handed to you by Leonel and Hippolito.

The published evidence is overwhelming that this forcibly "retired" police Lt. Colonel, after having done stints as Hipoloco Mejia's bodyguard squad, and with the DNCD (Dominican DEA) had a lot of influential "contacts" in the drug underworld.
It says a lot that he moved from a lower middle class neighborhood, to this very expensive and exclusive address after his retirement, that he could never afford with his police salary. Also his three children go to a most expensive private boarding school, only for the rich. So either he inherited some money or won the lottery, so the provenance of his assets have to be investigated.
FYI There is a tradition in the DR armed forces and police to "retire" certain officials above the rank of major, once they have been caught "in-fraganti" in illegal enterprises, and not prosecute them.

13 bullet shots and 32 caps were found. ummmmmmm....... let's put all pieces together:

1. for sure, someone want this colonel dead.
2. he was placed retirement following the case of pr fugitive jose agosto.
3. he was in the military before the case exploded.

so, we can draw an inference:

a. someone in military are heavily involved in the drug case.

b. if we are talking about 4.6 million us cash confiscated, it is not a small case, someone in higher rank also covered or involved the case.

c. why? because in dr, law can be abusively used. even f.l. abused the right of pardon.

conclusion:
1. when people do bad things, they want to do it big and big.
2. money in dr, has much more value than god, than the law.
3. moral value is just like a trash.
4. social-economical problems are the appetizer for the daily life issue.

Officials in D.R. know that there are people who had been mark by organized crimes which also may include so called non-criminals. There was much more than the $4.5 million on that SUV which no one wants to talk about but officials are following the rest of the money trail while organized crime is wanting its money and the heads of those who promised them safe passage through D.R.... the safe passage is for their merchandized. As of now there are some paid hit-mee n around the country with a list of the people that had been mark. Recently there were a couple of shootings and according to one news report a second group which the police believe to be part of the first group of hire killers returned to the same area to complete a job which the first group failed to carry out. The police has not reveal who was the intended target. It may be that they want for these people to do each other out -- that is create a war amongs themselves.

For a foreigner from Europe who love the Dominican Republic, it is with great sadness I read articles like this. you have the world's most beautiful country but I fear that if not very soon be put strong action against corruption and drug dealer, the country will perish and a very large proportion of visitors will find other countries to visit. It must not happen. Wake up and help those who are fighting an unequal battle for the good.

D.R. tourists are safer than in their own country, plus they are pamper more in D.R. than in any other nation. The news and stories that amplyfied and made as though D.R. is a heaven for criminals is not as is made out to be. A minority does not speaks for the greater good or greater majority. I say this not cause I´m dominican but cause I had lived in many different places that hide their ills through SELECTIVE NEWS in large prints. Now for D.R. the big thing is how large was the drug catched, how much money and who´s the big fish. This type of News is bringing in tourists who think that they can make some big money by getting involved.
