DAJABON, Dominican Republic.– Dominican soldiers stationed on Haitian border in the northwestern province of Dajabon traded shots with Haitian rustlers who were taking 43 cattle stolen from Dominican ranchers.

According to the Border Security Corps (Cesfront), no casualties or arrests were reported, and the Haitians escaped leaving the cattle behind. The livestock recovered belonged to rancher Manuel Cordero, who has been the victim of cattle rustling on other occasions.

Two months ago the Haitian National Police arrested nine Dominican ranchers who crossed the border looking for their stolen cattle.

In a related development, the Dominican National Police is looking for two illegal Haitian immigrants who allegedly killed a Dominican shopkeeper with a machete and a club to rob him.

National Police northern district spokesman Cordero Paredes said Francisco Antonio de los Santos, 48, died from stab wounds and the blows inflicted by Haitians who were his fellow-workers.

If anyone steals,no matter what their nationality, they must face the courts ..they must have been very fleet of foot for the Dominican police to have been unable to capture them but maybe the return of the cattle was first priority .

DoggPound, Power to you, MAN!!

We have to do something about it, we have to let all Dominicans know, the blind ones, the ones that cry out loud human rights...that they should look outside DR and check Florida, what they have done to Florida?

The police cannot even get in there, they have use special forces to dismantle this ppl, they are savage killers who won't blink to gut anyone out.

DOMINICANS must wake up before is too late.....

It'll be nice to set up a website for Dominicans to see what's coming to our backyard if we don't wise up. They are slowly taking over our jobs, land, and worst of all the military.

Every where you go you see them in our Police, Army, and what not force...

WISE UP DR, OTHERWISE GET READY TO HAVE A RAPED, SAVAGED, FLAT LANDED DR.

If not check Haiti from Google Earth, it looks like the SAHARA DESERT.

WISE UP DOMINICAN MAN, TAKE OFF THE BLIND FOLD, AND TAKE BACK OUR BEAUTIFUL ISLAND.

Let's think of this a little bit more in details....you say DR in PR. DR in U.S, if we start comparing there's good chance the whole world is full of GANGSTER. I don't want to mention Nationalities whatsoever. However, if you are in the U.S just simply check out the American Gang History from day one.

This is a matter of idiosincracy...simply being opinionated about my beautiful island.

If Dominicans are in PR,US or Europe ILLEGALLY those nations have a right to deport them WHENEVER they wish and DR has the sovereign right to deport EACH AND EVERY ILLEGAL Haitian on its territory, that is the gist of it and no matter how this issue is twisted our government has that right .

If any of us know how humans are like and operate, there is so much repression, oppression or suppression a human being can take and it does not matter which creed of people we are in this world our reactions to those I name above can too often not be pleasant in terms of revolts. I agree with the need to remove all illegal Haitian’s from the most beautiful country in the world by ANY mean’s necessary. Some people just don’t understand that the violent way is the only way to deter and remove this cancer, that if left as is will destroy DR.Put me with all the people in this site who understand that the death of these criminals is right.

But what we need is a combination of extreme violence as a deterrent and warning, along with extreme penalties for people regardless of nationality who help or hire these people. I’m talking long hard jail time, fines and public announcements of their crime. I would start with a complete militarization of the border. If this makes me xenophobic and resentful than that’s what I am.

Leonel has aspirations beyond Dominican presidency and is too busy working to become a regional leader and would prefer to keep-up a positive image for himself rather then to care about the long term negative consequences against the DR. He will NOT do anything drastic to protect the DR against Haitians, because it will be counter productve to his long term goals.

Just look at what he has done NOTHING and the problem keeps getting worse and worse. He must have some other deep down ulterior motives that we don't know about, and it is hard to find out what is behind his silence. If you notice, he never talks or brings up the subject, and only provides diplomatic and ambiguous responses when the issue is addressed.

Listen guys LF is up to something and eventually we will find out, but maybe when it is too late. Remember he prides himself as a progressive, advance, forward thinking intellectual, with ideologies that are good for another society but incompatible for the DR.

ok illegal immigration is wrong, but i think the right way to deal with the haitian problem is not through violence, but through enforcing the immigration laws of the country. That means prosecuting the dominician businessmen who hire slave labor and leaving poor locals without a job.,these are the guilty people not the haitians.

Greed and neglect over many years, Dominicans want cheap labor (greed)! Haiti is an unfinished country, straight chaos, France and the United States are responsible for the present day situation in Haiti (Neglect and isolation). The result is millions of desperate, uneducated Haitians. The border is fake, man made by european treaties for economic convenience, The human experience will never respect artificial lies. This is the problem in eastern europe, france, italy, albania, somalia, yemen, iraq, syria, pakistan, saudi arabia, ethiopia, mexico and the united states. You can't ever expect to exclude humans from striving to attain visible benefits and the pursuit of self improvement . If they are suffering and they know a better way exist, prison, injury, more sufferatrion and/or death is no detterent. This is the purpose of the Human RACE! No artificial border can resist this, Not enough Guns, Not enough bullets. One solution would be to remove the desire, both the push and th

Can some please tell me when if ever, is a country or people responsible for its present or future. No one can argue that in the infancy of all if not most of every single country on earth were either abused or violated or forcefully divided. The times that pass doesn’t seem to mean anything 100, 200, 300 years. The countries or the group of people continue to be blamed for what they did, the generations that benefited but are so far from the people who committed the wrong have to pay.

Can someone PLEASE tell me when the failed state of Haiti is going to ever be the responsibility of the Haitian’s? Every one knows what the French and Americans did. How many years have passed or have to pass before the Haitian problem is a product of the Haitians. How long is there going to be an excuse?

Tanbella, why your laws of physics about the repression, oppression or suppression that a human being can take and his unpleasant reactions in terms of revolts don't apply to Haiti? How comes the Haitian people for 200 years had taken repression, oppression, suppression, indignities and more from your elite and so far had not revolted? Don't be naive and menace us with what Haitians have not done in Haiti to their real oppressors and tormentors or, would you say that they have not taken a lot more from them in Haiti than from us here?

Dominican soldiers have lost their lives on the border. Killed for their weapon then the criminals run back to Haiti. As far as your veiled threat ,your people couldn't do anything when Trujillo took action in the 30's and today would face a much better prepared and armed population, don't delude yourself besides a handful of traitors the one thing that would blur any differences between Dominicans would be any threat from Haiti if you remember when Leonel was almost attacked by a Haitian mob even members of the PRD stated that if he came to harm there would be hell to pay!
