Santo Domingo.– The surveillance in the National District and La Vega, Monte Plata, San Cristobal and Bonao, the area with the highest accident rates in the country, will be reinforced as part of the "Born on Christmas 2009-2010" (Nacer Navideño), an initiative coordinated by the Emergency Operations Center (COE).
According to COE director Juan Manuel Mendez, 29 fatalities –11 more than last year– were reported in its first stage, from the 24th to the 27th of December.
Mendez said patrols will be increased and 1,821 aid stations are already installed. He added that the COE will distribute 132 ambulances, three helicopters and a similar amount of mobile hospitals around the country.

Happy New Year in NARCOLANDIA!
It is the 21st century. There is no need for these people to be killed.

Next, tax the living daylights out of them. Increase the cost of their insurance. If they're caught without plates/registration/insurance, mandatory confiscation.

Great News! This is a great beginning for Accident prevention Awareness!
I hope they implement strict laws on DUI driving under influence! I believe motorcycles are not the culprit, but drinking while drunk or drugs.
Also helmets and belts most be mandatory.
