Santo Domingo. - In November 2007 president Leonel Fernandez authorized the deportation of the Puerto Rican narcotics trafficker Jose David Figueroa Agosto, at the United States government’s request, but the Dominican and U.S. agencies then became strangely disinterested. He also affirmed that the United States Drugs Enforcement Administration (DEA) lets drug traffickers operate to “fish out” others.
The Presidency’s Advisor on narcotics Marino Vinicio Castillo (Vincho) made the revelation yesterday, and said that the now fugitive was detained in Dominican Republic on September 6, 2001, then with the name Felipe Rodriguez de la Rosa, but left jail on the 23rd, three days before an extradition request arrived from the United States.
He said since 2001 the (DEA knew of Figueroa’s presence in this country and that he was operating in drug trafficking rings. He said this puzzled him because they waited until 2009 to proceed against Figueroa, and in 2007 the DEA even had information that he shipped 1,000 kilos of cocaine to his former boss in Puerto Rico, Angel Ayala Vásquez (Míster Millions), who was convicted recently in that country.
“What happened there, if everything was approved? Why did the Dominican interest and also of the United States disappear? That is the question, why did they wait until 2009?” Castillo asked in his television program yesterday Sunday.
The official said the request to deport Figueroa or Angel Sosa Rodriguez arrived on November 8, 2007, to then drugs director Rafael Ramirez Ferreira, who sent it to the Interior and Police Ministry, after which the President approved it.

Castillo insists the DEA knew of the narcotics trafficker’s presence in the country, because when he was arrested with the Dominican name Felipe Rodriguez, his fingerprints determined it was Figueroa, of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and convicted in that country.
He added that the DEA sometimes lets some narcotics traffickers operate to “fish out” others, and this Figueroa could’ve been that case.

Yep! That's how these lowlife's operate. I amglad Leonel has seen their true colors and exposed them for what they are. They are making $$$ on all sides of this coin and also introducing drugs into the DR causing dangerous situations and depredation on society here. The USA Govt is a bad group of dogs. Not that I am sticking up for the drug kingpins either, but it is obvious to me that they are mostly all one and the same. IF not, the CIA< DEA will ensure they become unified as one to reap the benefits of the turf war.

I TOLD YOU SO! Now, the question is ... how effective has the strategy been in the war on drugs?
Most of us would say the war on drugs has at best been ineffective. Who knows maybe the US Depts are using these drugs operatios to gain extra funding.
I have been outspoken on this for years as kingpins operate from the top down to the local barrio Tigueres who hold drugs for cooling off periods before skimming some off the top for local markets and shipping the rest on to the USA. While US DEA plays the waiting game, the local RD police do the "pay-to-play" game with local Tigueres who must profit share to stay out of jail.
We all know who the drug dealers are and most of the time (where they are). While the US DEA agents are watching porn on their laptops playing the waiting game, more young kids become addicts and organized crime gains wealth, arms, control of the streets etc.

Legalize it and, tax the shit out of it. Like all the money sent back to Mexico. If it was taxed 50 % nobody would be sending any back. Solving the problems are easy. Look at the Poppy fields.
