SANTO DOMINGO.- The seizure of assets from those implicated in the August 4, 2008, killings at Ojo de Agua, Bani (south), Jose Luis Montas (El Duro Motors) and Luis de Jesus Lara Martinez, puts the case involving around 20 Dominicans and foreigners back on the spotlight.

The Justice Ministry’s Anti-laundering Unit conducted searches in Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal and Peravia provinces, where it seized a residence, a farm, a vehicle and documents. Several bank accounts of the accused were also frozen.

Seized in the searches in Santo Domingo province were, “digital evidence”, documents, a vehicle in Montas’ house, located in the sector Amanda, San Isidro highway, and a farm in San Cristóbal.

Also seized was Lara Martinez’s residence, located in Baní, Peravia province, which was left under his wife’s custody.

Fifteen vehicles had been already confiscated from the dealership El Duro Motors, located on Independencia avenue number 274, in the sector Honduras, National District.  Also seized was a truck suspected of transporting the 1,200 kilos of cocaine allegedly brought by the seven Colombians executed near the town Paya.

Well, it would be great if the vehicles were given to poor Dominicans in need. However, these vehicles will be distributed to corrupt DNCD agents & possibly law enforcement personnel. They will have something new to drive when they pick up their novias while their wives are at work or home.

P.S. Stop wasting my US tax dollars on the 40 US DEA agents in the US Embassy (la capital) who are more concerned about "keeping their jobs" rather than "doing their jobs". Theses guys are nothing more than paper-pushers & bureaucrats who are there to do anti-drug work in the interests of the USA. Theses guys only watch porn on their laptops & date putas in strip clubs while the Bani case unfolds on their watch! The drug supply in Santiago of my barrio of ENSANCE CAONABO has increased four-fold (400%).

Someone do an unbiased analysis on our American staff and concluded they are "worthless & ineffective" notice how much out of the loop they were on Bani!

I just want to know why they need to show such a graphic picture of the victims? It's weird how some things just don't change in our county! I mean look at the poor fella with his hands tucked inside his underpants, because they could not fastened his body properly in the stretcher! Please don't tell me we can't afford a body bag or some kind of cover for the deceased, their relatives should not have to see and have the whole world look at their loved one like this. No matter how much they deserved what they had coming! And honestly, I don't think people enjoy looking at such morbid pictures! At least I don't!

Dominicans do not know what transparency means (except for their transparent corruption) let alone accountability.

The DR needs a new breed of educated countrymen. The current morons have too much inbred ‘entitlement’. They all need to be put to pasture.
