SANTO DOMINGO. - Armed Forces minister Pedro Rafael Peña today said the Santo Domingo Metro’s Specialized Security Corp (CESMET) has been instructed to confront any boycott of its operation.

He said CESMET are highly trained security personnel and would be reinforced in any eventuality.

Responding to announced threats by drivers who demand the Metro’s feeder routes, the official said although the train has its own elite security agents, they’ll be alert to any threat to public order.

The Armed Forces chief affirmed that intelligence agencies are aware of a possible boycott of the activities in the Metro, which has 800 security guards to protect and monitor the 16 stations.

Plenty of resources for the METRO, but no electricity for the Hospitals!

"Maternidad afectada por la electricidad"

"La maternidad San Lorenzo no tiene suerte en los gobiernos del Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), dijo un empleado."

Well, if the drivers want to protest, go for it. That's their right of assembly and freedom of speech. If they want to adopt violence or block people from accessing the Metro, that's another thing.

But, picketing should not be stopped in any way. Bullying and violence, on either the Government or the Syndicate sides should be reprimanded.

Building a metro in DR is an Audacity of Hope and a humongous undertaking. Maybe it will work and it will last. The question is, is it the priority? Well, it's already built. Just give it a chance. Stay on the positive side for a least a year.

Cruz,

I would support most of your comments above on METRO, and I think several here would as well. However, some are rather cynical and just wish to be heard, even if their comments are rather senseless.

I think some people got it wrong. It's not a matter of whether the Metro is good thing or not. It is most definitely a good thing and most country should have one running. I am all for it working and hopefully they will keep it running and clean. However, it is a matter of priority. Do we need a metro more than we need working electricity or working aqueduct in some towns in the country amongst other things? And the answer to those questions is clearly no. I second Cruz sentiment in hoping that everything works out for the better with this Metro but our Government needs to get his priority in line.

The Metro is here to stay althought was not a priority for the rest of the country whos' tax money

help to build it . With the metro comes the need of energy and plenty of it and it is call electricity

, which i don't see the gvt. taking initiative to produce and deliver the same. Parallel to the

construction of such nesecity for the capital ,at least one power plant should had been part of the

METRO PROJECT.
.
I do agrre with those persons that said electricity for "HOSPITALS & SCHOOLS is also a priority.

So in order to satisfy the population and realistic speaking "don't borrow from Paul to pay Pete"in

order to partialy show its existance by sectionalizing & regionalizing the same.

The situation is drastic and & has to be adressed, The majority of the people that have in mind

extension of the METRO,are not using logics .In order to run all those you have to generate enogh

electricity.

Money is spent buying useless motorcycles as well as planes.

I have a solution for DR government. Hire the bus drivers. Give them a job at the metro. Just compromise, don't fight.

It is a pleasure dealing with person such as yourself and many others on this poster.
This people in power in DR including my cousin FRANKLIN ALMEYDA RANCIER,only think of today and to hell with the new generation to come. No one gvt except for the dictator(EL CHIVO),
has done any thing long lasting in DR. Balaguer to follow. They say in Trujillo's regime that "they
don't know if Trujillo was Balguerista or Balaguer was Trujillista" Trujillo's brain was Balaguer since he had non of his own except killing HAITIANS for their color and accepting JEWS in place.
Anything that has merit in DR was done by Balaguer ,acredited to EL CHIVO without borrowing a
penny from abroad including building an armament factory in San Cristobal were the200 ,000
Cristbal rifles were manufactured, under the technical and engineering of the Zchecks & Hungarians. This industry could had been the stepping stone of DR industrial revolution.,but the norrow minded military decided to vandalize it.

If i had it my way not only would i fire those Generals so call, (imbesiles an illitrates ) I would go a step further and put them all in a firing squad and shoot them all . This way like day say in Spanish (muerto el perro)se acava la rabia . For every general killed I woul appoint a MEDICAL DOCTOR tostaff those HOSPITAS &, NURSES as well . We don't need no more than 3 one star general (Brig.Gen.) and reduce from 6 brigades to 3 and make only 1 -2 star gen and that would be the head of the army, division level. The brown-nosers or as they call them boddy guards i would send them back to the cane field where they belong and take away all the perks which the ass hole so call pesident had given them including all those transport equipment and give it to D/P/W. I would go a step further and close the so call congress full of kick back corrupts, and put the MIRABALES in as president. Seems to me they were the only ONES with balls, if they were men. Would take back all those private beaches.
