SANTO DOMINGO. –George Arzeno Brugal, former head of Dominican Republic’s biggest rum maker, passed away early Friday in Tampa, Florida.
Don Georgy, as he was known, had left the country last week after taking part in the Government-sponsored talks to deal with the effects of the global economic crisis.
He was the president of the rum and beverage company Brugal, founded in 1888.
In February last year the famous distilling company Edrington announced its purchaser of 83% of the Brugal company shares for 400 million dollars.
