Santo Domingo.- The First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernandez was decorated by Italy’s Government Monday night, in a ceremony in the residence of that country’s ambassador Enrico Guicciardi and attended by president Leonel Fernandez,

Ambassador Guicciardi bestowed Italy’s Star of Solidarity in the rank of Grand Officer on the First Lady, for her outstanding work to ease poverty, and becomes the first Dominican woman and in the Caribbean region to receive such distinction.

Signora Margherita Prima-Donna di populo Domenicane. Molto bene! Bravissimo!

No mention of the familiar "mulignan" epithet in any of the cordial exchanges, hah?

My suggestion to the First Lady Margarita Cedeño Fernandez is "beware of strangers bearing gifts"; They may be setting up a 'quid pro quo'. La Mia Casa e La Sua Casa?

A thank you to Leonel for hooking up the Italians with the national park land. Also a start for her 2012 presidential campaign.
