SANTO DOMINGO. - The trial against the ex bankers Manuel Arturo Pellerano and Felipe Mendoza for alleged fraud in the Banco Nacional de Credito (Bancredito), with the Central Bank and the Banks Superintendence as plaintiffs, starts today in the National District 2nd Collegiate Court.

The former bankers, already serving an 8 year prison sentence for defrauding depositors, are accused of breach of trust, swindle, conspiracy, forgery, and of concealing and adulterating bank information.

In a statement, the Office of the Prosecutor said it’s ready to unseal the indictment in the case called “the large Bancrédito,” which involves around RD$23 billion.
