PORT-AU-PRINCE. – Dr. Ruben Silie Valdez, the new Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Haiti, presented on March 4^th, 2009 his diplomatic credentials to Haitian President Rene Preval who manifested “happiness” on Silie’s appointment.
Ulrick Gaillard, BRA’s CEO added, “Ruben is a dear friend and a man of great character who has devoted years of his life to help the two countries address bilateral issues through mutual respect and understanding and confraternity.”
Silie joined the Batey Relief Alliance’s board of directors in 2001 where he played an important role engaging various sectors of the Dominican mainstream society in the work of the organization inside impoverished and vulnerable communities, including the bateyes.
BRA is now expanding its humanitarian effort into border regions of Haiti where, as in the bateyes, socio-economic isolation has forced the populations to live in extreme poverty and under harsh conditions.
BRA honored Silie last year with a lifetime achievement award “Assessor Ad Vitam” for his work in the fields of education, migration and diplomacy.

Dominicans think he is pro-Haitian, but I believe that it is too early to judge what his stands
on particular issues will be, following the guidelines set by his immediate boss, the minister of foreign relations and in turn president Fernandez.
He is a sociologist, historian, economist and knows Haitian-Dominican history very well and he is sympathetic to the Haitian problems that affect both countries.
You could not find a more qualified person for the job having recently worked with the OCS.
His priority is to find a way to stop the exporting of the Haitian poor, sick and pregnant by the Haitian government to DR in cahoots with the Dominican military and agricultural and construction elite from both countries, that feed like vampires on the tired blood of these unfortunate human beings.
The solutions should be drastic and urgent as with the worsening economic situation,
the Haitians competing for jobs with Dominicans will create more resentment and possible
mass retaliation.

However, you have to understand that DOMINICANS are also exploited as well. The thing that gets me upset is that HAITIANS don't stand up to the EXPOLIATATION,SLAVERY, an PROSITUTION visa Resviks. that their children go through in HAITI which is WORE than in DR. Etienc Are you calling Preval a great man? Get a job! Preval is the one who kept your fecal people starving by prohibiting Dominican meat products imports while import expensive meats from Florida! And even after 3 hurricanes, septic hole Preval kept the embargo and now, his decision is not longer paying off!
Preval has yet to provide documentation and passports to Haitian in DR and that reflects on Preval abandonment of the people! There are still the proAristide people and growing in numbers fustrated with Preval bologne!
