Pedro Julio (Pepe) Goico. File photo.
SANTO DOMINGO.- After yesterday’s ruling by a National District Court to uphold a lower court’s acquittal of retired colonel Pedro Julio Goico (Pepe), the ex head of the Security Detail assigned to former president Hipolito Mejia, threatened to “dismount” president Leonel Fernandez from one of his SUVs seized by the Government.
The threat to the Head of State came after Appellate Court 2nd Penal Chamber judges Ramon Horacio González, Pedro Antonio Sanchez and Luis Omar Jiménez ruled to acquit the retired officer and to retry the wife of narcotics trafficker Quirino Paulino, Belkis Elisabeth Ubrí, and Ernesto Bienvenido Guevara Diaz (Marconi), so another court can hear the evidence filed in the money laundering case.
Known for his outbursts in court during the trial, in this occasion Goico voiced the threat during an interview by reporters as he sat calmly in the courtroom. “They better know that they are my SUVs and whether it’s president Fernandez himself or the very last corporal I’ll dismount them; they best start getting off of them, because they are mine and I’m going to recover them with blood or fire if I have to.”

Get rid of these judges. They do not help the country in any way.
They must have been threatened and paid off.
Follow the money. How does 'Pepe' have all his money, houses and SUVs?

The dream defense team and the legal system discharged Pepe for "technical reasons", or that the DA could not present adequate proof of guilt.
Pepe was also judged by the more important court of public opinion and "public rumor" and found guilty of all charges.
Sort of like O.J. Simpson, eventually he will not find peace anywhere he goes.

Does Pepe get his VISA card back? The one with which he charged US$42,000 in one night at the Deauville? The same one with which he bought a helicopter?

Actually he was the straw that broke the camel's back in the Baninter case because of his unlimited and abusive personal use of the Baninter credit card that was issued as a courtesy to President Mejia to pay for incidentals while traveling abroad.
It is said that he purchased over a dozen $15,000 gold Rolexes at once to give as presents in one ocassion plus the famous helicopter he later sold to Quirino the drug lord. Hipoloco still wears his spanking gold Rolex with pride.
Being a "cara dura" and to add insult to injury, he has the gall to ask for the items that were bought with
that card back, and he will probably get them back some day, but they probably will not be worth anything then.

Amazing, once again this guy is off the hook and disrespecting one of the best presidents ever in the D.R. I agree with BLANCO how important are his dirty secrets.....I wish he is forced to tell his little secrets so that we could clean up more of the "lacra sociales" of the D.R.

You know, I don't remember anyone in recent history threatening a sitting president in the DR. I always thought that this was a big red line you did not cross...
Someone must do something about this....

I think someone embellished his gibberish and used it to write (slow news day) a headline story and sell the evening newspaper. Tu sabes como la gente habla callabadas! Eso es todo!
Now if someone follows you around writing down each word you utter, in this post-911 World, you may end up in Guantanamo or one of those secret flights (renditions) to a torture destination.
Gracias a Dios que la Cuarenta ya no existe!
Now, actually threatening a sitting President is frowned upon even in the Vatican.

I had a trial before Juez Pedro Antonio Sanchez involving a real estate fraud. This guy is the most incompetent judge on the Tribunal Colegiado. Juez Antonio Sanchez acquitted the suspect, disregarding numerous forged documents and testimony from the DNI Insef forgery department. Avoid this guy if you can.

The Injustice in DR is coming back to bite the President in the A$$,
I don't like LF, and if the guy was acquitted then the he should get his property back.
The military doesn’t have LF’s back. I very much doubt that.

Honestly the re are no men left in my country, this is so unbeleivable, hobestly what our country needs is a hard hand not to the extreme of trujillo, but yes we need someone who is not afraid to cut some heads. He should be exile and incarserated in Haiti together with all the crooks and criminals. Hey if USA has Guantanamos, why can we rent a jail in Haiti? Two birds killed at the same time.
I feel bad for Leonel. He is surrounded by sharks, better yet, Hienas.
I think his afraid of doing any thing against these criminals, too many.
