They say human rights not just Dominican rights, or neighbors to the west ARE HUMANS.
Hence the words human rights, We Dominicans do not have a good track record of human rights because we have modern day slavery in the Bateys in our country. The majority of the Bateys are not Dominican owned but they are still in our country.

Many great dominicans have died to get DR in kind of a good position not perfect but improving and haitians have to recognise their fight is not in DR is in Haiti. What happens to Haitians is because they accepted and do nothng about t. Its taken DR a long time to improve and there is a lot of work to do the problem no Haitians are willing to fight for whats theirs which is Haiti. Modern day slavery happens everywhere if you don't believe try going to centerville texas and see how much mexicans make and the conditions and there are many other places i can name where modern slavery takes place. My my Rubi, tell us how you really feel ! The reason there are Haitians in the DR, is the same reason we in the USA have Mexicans...Oppportunity !!! If Dominican would never hire illegal Haitians, there would not be many that would stay.

It's amazing and sad to read the venom. it's eerily similar to the treatment of immigrants in the US, or for that matter, the rest of the world. No country really wants to give up it's resources ($) to non-citizens, especially politicians who at some point have to answer to the public for re-election. Do you know the cost of illegal immigration? Figure on food, healthcare, housing and education and top it off with more resources to process the illegal immigrants whether in hospitals, schools or on the rare occassions, arrests. Yes, rare. Contrary to popular belief, illegal immigrants don't commit crimes at a higher rate than the general lower-income population. Unfortunately DR barely has enough to provide for its own citizens due to rampant corruption and nepotism throughout every economic sector in the country. However, like Cubans, Haitian's problem is not in the adopted homeland but in their own homeland. But ask yourself, if you were Haitian, what would you do? Starve?

First of all I am Dominican, both of my parents all of my grandparents.
2nd of all, yes the U.S. does make its self rich of the backs of others. “Slaves, illegal immigrants” Is it right? NO
Is it right that DR does not enforce there immigration laws NO
But I also feel that if you’re going to deport a bunch of poor starving Haitians. Then we should also deport the fugitive foreigners in DR.

Regardless of what we know or say, every country has its own history of war and barbaric acts-thats how we have come to what we call modernism. Every country that borders another country has a history of killing and deceive and only time will tell if this will ever end, because even now in the 21st century we see it happing more than ever before. Before, 5000 and 6000 thousands were killed and those were masive numbers, now we talk about 10s of thousands and is a common thing.
Every country from Germany to china has history of pain, things that we knwo we could have done better, but back then we didnt know better and took the wrong approach. Now all we have to do is to realize that as humans we have to preserve our species since we are the only animals with the ability to reason and put our thoughts together before taking action (at least most of the times).
