SANTO DOMINGO. - The United States formalized the extradition request for 21 people allegedly linked in the case Quirino Paulino, and the arrest warrants have reportedly been issued.

The people are wanted by U.S. federal prosecutors in the state of New York in the case against the ex Dominican Army captain, extradited in February, 2005, and who agreed on a plea bargain in exchange for information that would lead to the dismantling of the drug-trafficking ring of which he was a member, and for federal protection of his nearest nearer relatives, who’ve already been taken out of the Dominican Republic.

The New York South District Office of the Prosecutor identified Ernesto Bienvenido Guevara Diaz (Maconi) as the person who figures in a wiretapped conversation with Paulino, prior to the shipping of 1,387 kilos of cocaine, seized in December, 2004.

On February 11 Federal judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein issued an arrest warrant against Guevara, the first in the case, as  part of the indictment 08-CRIM-111.

The team of Leonel Fernadez and his excellency Leonel are the most open that the DR has ever had. There are no closed door policies. Everything is above board and in the open.

PS. The Electric companies still have not been paid the 350,000,000. US They are owed.

I am just a patriot who loves his country...and his president. If this is a crime; then I am guilty...

Jacirez, speaking out against iniquity by the leadership does not make you unpatriotic. in some circles, it is actually considered patriotic to criticise wrongdoing by political leaders. nobody is saying that Leonel is a crook, but he is the leader. the buck stops there!

dreadlocks,

You are a Traitor. Badmouthing the DR in an international forum; calling into question the administration of Dr. Fernandez and critizing our elected officials...
Shame on you...Shame on all of you. Making the DR look bad in the eyes of the world...

dreadlocks,

We are a nation of poets, writters, Doctors, Philosophers, athetes, singers, enginners and dreamers. We are full of potential and posibilities. I refused to reduce 165 years of history to the phase "failed state". Not now; not ever. Dominican Republic will rise...
