Are the nobody's who become ill in jail taken to a hospital, or this is a privilege granted only to wealthy criminals? It's rather curious that these people seem to have serious health problems once in jail or on the way to it. What kind of schene is this?

Correction friend, Clinica Abel Gonzalez is the best equipped clinic in Santo Domingo and where all
the best internal medicine specialists and heart doctors have their offices.
Because it is top of the line, the big white collar bandits with lots of hidden moola choose it.
No fault of Dr. Cayo Gonzalez, who is Abel Gonzalez son running it at present.
BTW Abel Gonzalez was the doctor who performed the autopsy on Trujillo's body and was also in the Dominican military with a high rank.

Are you kidding this is a 5 star hotel and resort compared to any hospital or clinic I have ever seen throughout the world. First class all the way and why should they turn away business ?

Not quite as nice as these but the rooms are smaller version of the Merriot.

Little dated but you get the picture,

I haven't been in any of the ten nicest hospitals in the Forbes article, but I HAVE been a patient in Abel Gonzalez.... twice.

I can tell you by looking at the pictures on the Forbes article, Abel Gonzalez is just as nice, if not nicer.

I don't think it has the best medical care available(that would be Corazones Unidos), but I'd say it's second.

I wish the rooms in my luxury villa were as nice as the rooms in Abel Gozalez. Those folks spent some SERIOUS money on that place.

Dr. Abel Gonzalez is a urologist. He may have been present at Trujillos autopsy, (there was an autopsy??) but I doubt he performed it. I'll ask him the next time I see him. He' s in his nineties now, and still practices in the old Abel Gonzalez clinic in front of Clinica Abreau.

A Proctologist did the autopsy......If El Jefe had been alive he would have said "Hey! Now I know how a Muppet feels! "
