Washington. - President Barack Obama plans to speak with his Dominican colleague Leonel Fernandez during the Summit of the Americas slated for Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, between April 17 and 19, and the White House isn’t concerned with the Dominican President’s recent trip to Cuba.
However the meeting won’t be of an official bilateral character rather an informal conversation within the event, said the U.S. chief executive’s special adviser Jeffrey Davidow.
He also denied that the White House was concerned with the Dominican President’s recent trip to Cuba, or of his visit with that nation’s ex leader Fidel Castro.
In that regard, Davidow said to newspaper Listin Diario the impression by some sectors of Fernandez’s visit to Cuba is erroneous and it’s evidenced by the fact that this week vice president Joseph Biden was in a country, Costa Rica, which recently restored diplomatic relations with Havana.
“Most of the presidents have been (lately) in Cuba,” the diplomat said regarding comments on Fernandez’s absence in Biden’s meeting with the Central American presidents, and which certain groups interpreted as a snub by Washington. “That interpretation is incorrect.”
Davidow said Obama’s possible meeting with Fernandez “will be a unique opportunity,” despite that there are no bilateral encounters programmed, but affirmed that there’ll be opportunities for the region’s leaders to speak openly.

It isn't the grassy knoll crowd that I'm laughing at but the Haiti-phobics who grasped at reading the 'snubbing' so wrongly. Wait, maybe Mr. Davidow is a paid stooge of Aristide and the Congressional Black Caucus :P LOL

On march 30 Th I opened a forum post with the title:
Que pasa with the USA and the DR relations?
Looks like it was read in Washington, D.C. by important persons in the Obama administration.
Should DT and I take some credit for being taken into account as far as attracting attention from the higher ups and decision makers in DC?
I agree I wasn't the only one that published similar commentaries but ours was in English.

Why?
You think Biden can say anything without the Whitehouse's approval?

“That interpretation is incorrect.”
Jeffry Davidow.
There was a reason (and a good one). There is an interpretation that is correct and all of you know it. They do not approve Leonel Fernandez’s actions. A PLD’s member recently called some of his fellow party’s members “traitors to Juan Bosch” in public for the same reasons.

Anthony C, Only one reason of thousand Biden is the guy who said one time Obama wasn"t ready to lead and later he make up His mind and say He is ready that Old man is a kind of Old School, my problem is not Leonel, is the consequence somebody with power can do against DR as whole nation we represented 10 million people without Haiti, I understand we can not be Isolated from any political decision or individual.
