Santo Domingo. – Insisting that he has nothing to hide and after having stood up the Senate Ethics Commission, the legislator Alejandro Williams arrived Tuesday an hour and-a-half after his was scheduled to offer his version on the threats against three journalists.

“The time will arrive come when I’ll speak with the press, I have nothing to hide,” was all Williams said when he left the National Congress escorted by seven bodyguards.

The Senate Ethics Commission had cited the San Pedro province (east) senator for 10 a.m. Tuesday, but faced with his absence, ended the meeting at 11 a.m.

Commission president Wilton Guerrero called Williams’ attitude “irresponsible,” because by “not showing his face” he involves not only himself, but also the Senate, the ruling PLD party and all society.

“We feel that he shouldn’t adopt the attitude that he’s a king, and we his cerfs, although he believes that he’s above us.”

Look guys, those PLD guys in the DR government, think about this seriously:
If you have cancer, either you treat this disease earlier or you let it grow and cut the dead tissue to save your life.

It is the time to cut the dead tissue.........do something about this guy.... do not BS without doing anything..... for God Sake........

At what threshold will the honorable members of the senate get pissed off, rise in unison and demand the immediate and irrevocable expulsion of this seemingly unworthy member? This senator is clearly ignoring them and brushing them aside and disrespecting them.

I seem to remember, from my father's compatriots days, that the worst thing you could do to a Dominican man was slight him. Well, the honorable senators have been blatantly slighted, and the time for manly action has arrived.....no more speeches or grandstanding.....it is time to rise and be counted and earn the respect of the people via your righteous actions.

Rise! Rise! Rise and take unequivocal action!!!!!! The gravity of the situation clearly demands it!

Just look at the guy; he lives in his own fantasy where he is the brightest and best looking… and this is a senator from the Republic, no wonder some folks call our country corrupt. I hope that if proven guilty he be send to jail for a long time.

The most absurd thing of all is how The Senate is impotent to do anything about this clown. Guerrero sure talks the talk, but nothing more. PLATANO REPUBLIC.

For him to be so arrogant, he must have something (dirt) on someone very powerful. Notice LF, not a peep from him. can he have dirt on LF or his wife (Margarita)? one never knows! But Williams attitude, is of someone who has won the lottery (doesn't need to answer to anyone). Still a Banana Republic, quickly on its way to becoming a Failed State.

Isn't there such a thing as "CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS" in this beknighted country?

This guy'll need more than 6 bodyguards when he returns for good.
And if he is found guilty of Medicaide/Medicare fraud, he'll spend some time in a Federal Pen. Hope he becomes some long-timers "girl-friend". It would serve him right.
Arrogance personified.
And people ask me why I'm taking my family out of this type of environment?
Get Real.

User, against my better judgment I'm going to try to engage in an adult level conversation with you.
what point did i make that makes you say that or is that just the best you can come up with?

Juango, hit the man, she doesn't have no play in this game.

Well somebody is toleraring this outrageous behaviour. The people to blame are his own party the PLD. They should clean up their own home. A political party that tolerates this behaviour in his own ranks totally loses his credibility. They should expell this guy from their caucus and ask this guy to resign as a senator. That's how a party of some class should do in these cases.
PLD regain the stature you had when Juan Bosch founded you.

antonio1, Juango did in no way go after LF's wife, he simply stated that the Senator maybe has some dirt on someone powerful, and maybe one of those powerful people is LF's wife, who many people believe will run in 2012. Is that so hard to understand or does everything needs to be dumbed down.

Texasbill,,,I too had made the decision to withdraw from the DR, till I see a brighter future. I thank God that I have that choice, unlike many close friends left behind in the DR. When the international investment community see these type of attitudes (as exhibited by Williams), in the rulers/lawmakers that govern the country, we tend to withdraw. At least I do,,, and did. I will relook at my beloved DR, only after I see a vast improvement in which my investments will be more secure. That goes for any country. To educated children in that environment, is to say the least, shameful.

I have seen many stupid comments here but your total ignorance gotta win a award or something. Yes believe or not todos los negros son gente. If you have nothing constructive to add to DT the other option is to say nothing which was a way better choice in you case. Who ever did this kind action should be take into jail wether negro o blanco. Racism is a cancer that affects the brain now can i ask you?

Do you have any left?
Como dicemo alla Las palabras definen a las persona
and these word have defined you. i'll make sure to remember your name and add you to my Pupu List that way i won't read your future comments.

For him to need 6 bodyguards to leave a state government building is unbelieveable. There must be a long line of people that want to hurt him.

This guy thinks he rules the country or something. Lets hope the rest of the senate are sick of this guy and have him removed. Funny thing is he has already said hes not the only dirty one and seemed willing to spill the beans on the rest. Hopefully he will so everything can come out in the open for everyone to see once and for all.

lady justice is not the only one eyed person down here....the people are too...

what has williams done?...
not gone to his senate meetings?--take a look at the records of the other senators or even the other representatives that always skip meetings (not as bad as williams but same thing....and they still get paid)....
williams didnt declare his assets--once again...he's not the only one...even look at previous years, its like pulling teeth with the politicians to get them to do this
--medicaid fraud---thats will be the bomb but until the US arrives at a verdict..he's regretfully innocent for now...the US nor the Dominican governt can comment on this as if he's guilty
---the roughhousing of the journalists?..ok for sure he passed the line there...especially now he skipped his meeting to talk about this..his stupitiy

but with all the crap all the other politicians/judges/army/police heads do in this corrupt country...williams hasnt done much ( pun). WHY'S HE SO SPECIAL
