SANTO DOMINGO.- A "perfect" alliance using the military to evade any detection by the authorities in charge of the war against organized crime and drug trafficking sustained the plans that concluded with the transfer of the seven Colombians and the drug from Villeya beach, in Azua, to the town Paya, Peravia province (south), where they were executed on August 4, 2008.
Prior to their execution in Ojo de Agua, Paya, the seven men came ashore at Villeya beach and went to a residence from where they were taken to the site in a SUV property of Luis Lara Martinez (Churro).
According to the investigating commission on the Paya killings and the Peravia Office of the Prosecutor, the white SUV Land Cruiser was driven by Police sergeant Redys Manuel Encarnacion (Yeri).
It said the Police sergeant then boarded a truck, property of Lara, which was allegedly in the residence in Paya and drove it away from there, "to not leave any signs that the implicated were in said house."
In the crime’s chain, the indictment accuses Victor Perez (El Pinto) of protecting the transfer of the drug received at Villeya on his bus, from a house located behind the colmado Leon Rojo, on the Baní-Salinas road, from Baní to Santo Domingo.
It states that Navy commander Jesus Sanchez Piña’s mission was to guard the route from the house of the drug traffickers in Paya, to Villeya, and to warn in the event of any contingency, or if the authorities were to uncover the activity.
The Colombian’s fate was sealed when Girson Antonio González Maríñez (Toro Bravo) handed the guns and rifles, which were allegedly in Lara Martinez’s house, to the naval officers to carry out the murders.
The plans
The indictment names Navy commander Miguel Peña Figuereo, and the civilians Yaneury Manuel Calvo and Dennys Jairo Rodriguez as the ones who allegedly arranged, organized and headed the entire criminal operation, which began with the identification, recruitment and leadership over the groups which received the drug at Villeya beach, as well as the murder of the Colombians.
It also names Augusto Alberto Daneris Andújar as the figurehead of the executed Colombian Jose Darío Atencio Vargas (Don or Cañarete), owner of the house in Paya.
