SANTO DOMINGO.- The president of the Senate Ethics Commission said his colleague Alejandro Williams’ behavior is unacceptable for senators, and that if he admits before them the allegations against him, the sanctions would be drastic.
Wilton Guerrero said Williams’ repeated refusal to appear before the Senate is irresponsible and a lack of respect for the Senate, his companions, the ruling PLD party, and society. "Senator Williams must come here to show his face, to respond to the accusations against him, he cannot adopt that irresponsible attitude of absenting himself. We with the party caucus were waiting for him Tuesday last week to listen to him and to question him, before the Ethics Commission was empowered, but he didn’t come to the PLD caucus meeting and neither to the Senate session."
The Ethics Commission met yesterday to evaluate Williams’ statements in a interview with Alicia Ortega, in which he admitted having "investigated" several journalists to determine the sources of reports he’s being probed for an alleged Medicaid fraud in the United States.
Guerrero said although Williams publicly admitted hiring private detectives to investigate the journalists Margarita Cordero, Maria Isabel Soldevila, Norma Sheppard, Mayra La Paz and Adalberto Domínguez, they must first listen to the San Pedro (east) senator’s explanations.

Texasshoe this would set a good example for starters of cleaning up in the government and cutting away at the fat. Lets hope the other senators decide on this fate. A simple apology or even being just fined or fired is not enough. This man robbed the people and should be forced to pay for his crimes.
I hope the US government puts him in jail for 30 years and takes everything he owns in the US for his punishment.
Seriously just look at this guy. He looks like a lying scumbag.

This guy and this whole case is amazing.
From DR1:
"...As for his absence from the DR to work in his dental clinic in the US, Williams said that he visits San Pedro de Macoris every week. He is quoted in Listin Diario as saying that he spends four days a week in the US and three days per week living at the Metro Country Club in Juan Dolio, a golf and residential development about 20 minutes from San Pedro."
What a life. I bet he's flying 1st class of course. And the rest of the clowns in the Senate, same as him. If they were serious how hard would it be to cut his salary off? One phone call and done.

Its time for our country to start making examples of people like this. If not we look like fools letting people do this to our people and once caught no punishment to prevent others from doing the same. Shame on our legal system and government.

Appears to be SOP for legislators, much like here in the USA. Same old crap. Why has it taken his fellow Senators, this long to bring this to the forefront. He apparently has never attended his duties as a Senator. They are all incompetent ! They are just piling on now that it has become a public issue. His fellow senate members would have never called him on the carpet, if it were not a public issue. This guy is worthless, can't see how he make it as a dentist. The NY Dominicans crowd should boycott him/his office, and force him to go back home to face his citizens, that he has screwed for so long.

The racial distribution in DR is 16 % white, 11 % black and 73 % mulato! What counts is that they behave like Dominicans! Race, skin color, nose shape or hair texture does not matter. What matter is to put DR ahead of race, skin color, hair texture, human rights, socialism, capitalism, and religion!

Thank you DT for the deletions. It was getting far too ponderous, much like the Sen. Williams story. This turkey is living proof that it takes very little culture, morals and integrity to be a POLITICO. I place equal blame on his fellow Senators for allowing this cluster f**k. God help us all. We here, are not too far behind the DR with our own government in the USA (B. Frank, H. Reid, Pelosi). What a joke. We the voters deserve what we asked for in a democratic society, be it the DR or the USA.

Guys, If you ever live in the Dom. long enough, you will know:
1. Political issuse
2. The laws in there not applied to those who are high positions or rich
3. I have no idea that the PLD nominate this guy as Senator in SPDM., do PLD do background investigation to screen who is better candidate?
4. If this guy involved in the medicaid fraud in the U.S., it will not surprise me, because he thinks he is above the law.....he thinks that the US will treat him as he is as a Senator in the D.R.., what a shame....... DR has Senator like him who is playing around the law, ignoring the law, ....
Please, the Ethic comission of Senate in DR., I believe only talk, talk and fooling around people again..... show people the actions that you are taking........

El Pais de Las Maravillas.....It is a wonderful place, where the laws are only for the many poor and uneducated people. Those rich and/or well connected need not worry, there are different set of Laws for you. Williams is either rich or well connected or he has some dirt on someone very high up...hummmmm I wonder what this payaso has that I don't, maybe it is his good looks....
From: United States
the most disturbing issue here is that this guy operates in a political ecosystem wherein he would even think of doing this. can you imagine Chuck Schumer living in London , running a habadashery, and flying to Albany once per week to attend to matters in the Senate? what should worry Dominicans is that there exists a system in which he believes, and rightfully so, that it is no big deal. this is beyond scandalous, and Leonel should have expunged him by executive decree. then again, there is very little attention paid to appearances of impropriety, and he will continue to do this until something is done by others. he apparently is not sufficiently principled and decent enough to resign.

Drastic measures HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....The Dominicans take drastic measures HAHAHAHAHAHA. This has been known for months and it wasn't until someone else highlighted it that the senate felt they had to do something. What a bunch of bufoons!! What will the drastic measures be?? a vice minister position!! There is not one Dominican willing to make the sacrifice, blow the whistle on corruption. If one exists they might as well start at the top with the President who promotes, condones and participates in it.
