Santo Domingo.– Due to maintenance works at the Valdesia aqueduct, the Water and Sewer Corporation of Santo Domingo (CAASD) announced that numerous sectors of the Dominican capital as well as the San Cristobal province will be without water from today to Holy Saturday.

According to the CAASD, the areas that will be affected by the massive suspension are the neighborhoods of Piantini, Serralles, Paraiso, Naco, Julieta, Quisqueya, Fernandez, Evaristo Morales, Ciudad Nueva, San Juan Bosco, Zona Colonial, San Geronimo, Miraflores, Los Prados, Los Restauradores, Los Praditos, and Villa Francisca.

Other sectors affected in the capital will be Arroyo Hondo I, II and III, La Fe, Colinas del Rio, Villas Agricolas, 27 de Febrero, Los Angeles, Cristo Rey, Gualey, Guachupita, Simon Bolivar, Villa Consuelo, Los Guandules, Capotillo, Colinas del Seminario, Jardines del Norte, Don Honorio, among others.

In San Cristobal the neighborhoods which will not receive the water supply are Canastica, Sainagua, Haina, Madre Vieja, San Rafael, Estefania, Cambelen, Yogo Yogo, Nizao, Najayo, La Ermita, Ingenio Nuevo, La Conga and Doña Ana.

The CAASD decided to take this measure now because of the residents exodus during the Holy Week. The entity is asking people to store and save water while the maintenance work is completed.

Sounds like a last minute warning to evacuate those areas. Why can't these repairs be done without causing people to go without water for four days?

Its the Dominican Way.
I have seen where toilets are not flushed for 4-5 days because they refuse to pay the CASSD for water.
Biggest problem are in the Condominium where no laws exist.
