Santo Domingo.– Elections will be held in 2010, whether or not the ideal scenario is set, said the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) Julio Cesar Castanos Guzman.

Castanos also said these would be the best elections ever held in the history of the Dominican Republic due to the JCE's achieved know-how. He stressed there are no delays in any aspect of the calendar for the next congressional and municipal elections.

When asked about statements made by the president of the JCE Administrative Chamber Roberto Rosario –noting the next elections are in danger–, Castanos pointed out that the ideal scenario would be to have the Party Law that addresses primaries and the JCE has more power to supervise the money and establish order in election campaigns.

This time no cell phones to prove that you voted for Leonel, no sun land to buy elections.

No, U.S. of A to steal the election and give it to their strong man. “Balaguer 1966”
No PLD, PRD just Dominican looking for a better DR for Dominicans “Not the investors and foreigners buying everything in sight”.

Wake up Dominicans; everything is not what you think it is.
Leonel is not a GOOD president,
Your political party plays you for a foul.

Contraire to what you have heard “WE DO NOT HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH”
WE ARE NOT A FREE COUNTRY
NO ES PA’LANTE QUE VAMOS

Es para el inferno

One day Dominicans will wake up and find that the coutry has been stolen right from under us….

To all of you here on DT

It is a pity we have lost the two guys that could have given us the best of comments on this. Namely GC and jacirez. It's nothing but a shame and a loss for everybody capable of filtering
what they want to hear and let go everything else. So much for freedom of speech.

Hill Hill GC and JC

CeraJotaA,

Are you telling me “Chillaxin” that the U.S. did not play a part in the election of 1966?
This is well documented, several Dominicans if not all agree that the election was rigged in U.S. favor.

If not the "Best" elections ever, certainly the most expensive and corrupt.

We have freedom to vote and voice our opinions but WE ARE A REPUBLIC (NOT A DEMOCRACY). Our representatives make decisions for us (and that is how power is abused and power corrupt absolutely).

A whole bunch of Haitian are going to vote in this one (enable by the JCE)!

"...A whole bunch of Haitian are going to vote in this one (enable[d] by the JCE)!..."
I was under the impression that if you were a legal citizen (as defined by the JCE) in the DR you were eligible to vote. You know, just like in any other "Democratic" country...

Leonel, gave them citizenship in exchange for them voting for him...

"JCE assures the country is ready for best elections ever”

Now if they can find a Dominican politician with half a brain, with no inbred corruption.
