SANTO DOMINGO.- The organization Jacques Viau Dominican Haitian Encounter Network called on the population and the Dominican and Haitian governments to seek agreements, dialogue and mutual respect, after deploring the violence in Santo Domingo’s Herrera sector.
It was referring to the death of a Haitian and Dominican, and condemned the conflicts and violence that jeopardize the normal coexistence between the people. It states that the case has devastated the Haitian community in the country. "The Jacques Viau Network wants to clarify that the cited case has been an isolated action and not a permanent dynamics in the binominal relations.”
The Network headed by Joseph Cherubín stated its concern because unscrupulous sectors misinform the population irresponsibly, creating hostility in the communities and taking advantage of any conjuncture to distort and debilitate the good relations between Haiti and Dominican Republic.
"We invite the population, to reflection and calm, the dialogue aimed at peace. We also invite the media to a responsible exercise, to take a harmonious message and which serves as an instrument to bolster the ties between the Dominican State and the Haitian State even stronger," said the Network which groups more than 16 organizations.
It adds that it expects the impasse to be solved as soon as possible, “and than the authorities assume the commitment to maintain the peace, respect of human rights and solidarity characteristic of our towns.”

what a lot of nonsense ,Agape and i suggest they stop you at the border to here also ...there are many people from Haiti conducting great businesses here in the DR and are of benefit to this country and without the Haitians here , much business would grind to a halt ..just the same as the mexicans in california ..

The kingdom of God and the love of Jesus Christ has no borders or boundries .. Every country and every people want to have an old dog under the table to kick and scream at when they want someone or something to blame thier misery on .We Americans are the biggest hypocrites of all. No country has more blood on our hands and dirt under our nails than we do and perhaps no other people have gotten screwed more by greedy capitalists than the true Native Americans that are drinking themselves stupid on a deserted plain given to them by thier charitable government as a consolation prize in return for letting them rape thier wives and daughters , kill thier sons and take away all those jobs rustling cattle that Billy Joe redneck is now doing in most of the country. Why dont you ask chief SITTING BULL what he thinks about Mexicans getting a drivers license without a birth certificate and proof of a red white and blue popi and than talk to him about racial conflict in the tropics..

The reality is that the majority of Dominicans are merely tolerating the Haitians in thier country In the same way a person tolerates annoying co-workers they are are forced to work with because they feel powerless to do anything else . This tolerance should not be confused with acceptance and community spirit ..I have Dominican and Haitian friends that work side by side with one another and they smile and give lip service to one another while popping the cap off a Presidente bottle at the end of the day with the same bottle opener...When the Haitian turns his back and goes home for the day, The Dominicans will say to me ''never trust a HAITIAN ,'' It would be very unfair and untrue to say that in general , most Dominicans hate Haitians , but at the very least , I dont think Its an exaggeration to state that the Majority of Dominicans have a justifiable mistrust of Haitian people because of thier history .

Jacques Viau was a Haitian teacher that taught in Ciudad nueva when the 1965 DR revolution started. He took up arms and fought in the constitutionalist side in the B-3 Commando in the patriotic war against the invaders, and died a few days after the 15 th-16 th of June offensive of his multiple wounds.
Jacques was a teacher and a poet and son of ex-Haitian presidential candidate, Alfred Viau who lost the 1956 election against Francois "papa doc" Duvalier.
Jacques was a hero and a martyr and I just hope that this organization that is using his name has the Viau family's consent and authorization.

Why is it that those Haitians who are living illegally in the DR are the ones (hiding behind false US adrresses) spiting insults at the Dominicans?
Is it tactic to cow the Dominicans into letting more Haitians enter the DR .to crowd their hospitals .to dump Haitians children on their streets?
Why is it the ones who turn their bakc to the Dominican people, have never in any shape or form help the advancement of the Dominican people, whose corrupt parents have plundered the Dominican people coffers are the worst instigators calling for the killing of Haitian?
See the color of the accused Dominican .This is the same Dominican that yesterday you would call Haitian.Doesn't he look like Alejandro Williams and Jose Pena Gomez.?
While the Haitians are protesting the Haitian goverment is busy enriching themselves

Haitians and Dominicans, there’s NO reason to keep fighting over immigration issue. It’s time to put an end in our grievances. We need to embrace PEACE. And PEACE is a long process. But We need to start working for it NOW…

Maybe we should adopt the same politic the U.S. have with Mexico...Haitian do all the contruction and farming work,,,,Dominican get all the IT, finance and office job,,,it could be a win situation but i must agree in one thing with the gentlema Agapa...there must be more security at the border maybe we should grow an un-passable forest and only have two border crossing intead of four that exist right now not to mention all the illegal crossing as well

they should start by having both nations work together to replant all of the trees. Dominicans should show Haitians the importance of not chopping down trees for firewood, and Haitians should help plant the trees

Those policy may not be on paper but they are being applied everyday. The problem is we need more Dominicans graduating from school to fill up those positions and many others that are getting filled by foreigner like the Idenpendend Financial Centre of the Americas who should open very soon but the chanllenge they are facing is finding local talent to work there like Gaetna Bucher said that is their main challenge but he is hopefull that many Dominicans will go that route soon. I was not surprise when i heard the guy saying that finding local talent was the main challenge. If this thing works it will be the best step DR has taken in the last 50 yrs. This would leave the door wide open for opportunities for DR in the 21st century.

Propane gas for cooking should be given away for free if necessary to stop rampant deforestation.
Those who can not afford to pay for propane gas, use the wood of trees to do their cooking, and that is a fact.
Until these people can afford to buy propane, we must furnish it to them for free if necessary, no if's and but's.
Haitian government refuses because they are always crying poverty. There is no Haitian government, what exists there are leeches in business for themselves operating a toll gate.
