The Supreme Court, where some land fraud cases are tried.
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Watchdog, is a nonprofit consumer protection agency operating under a new trust and transparency program in collaboration with the European Union Commission and under the United Nations protocol against corruption and crime, the Web site PRWEB reports. “We are urging property buyers, who have been victims of real estate fraud in the Dominican Republic, to come forward in an exposé of the deplorable condition for international real estate investors.”
It asks: “Did you get a blue eye from Dominican real estate Investments,?” to respond that Dominican Watchdog is preparing its first annual report on fraud and corruption in the Dominican real estate market, involving foreign investors from around the world.
“Investors who have not been able to recover money lost in real estate scams in the Dominican Republic can seek free advice and legal assistance through Dominican Watchdog. For more information please visit our website, PRWEB said. “Dominican Watchdog is particularly focusing on the following financially distressed projects with questionable backing; Marbella, Las Olas and CostaBlanca by Metro Country Club and its owners Dr Luis Jose Asilis and VP Steve Ankrom.”
It said it‘s also closely watching “the |troubled and destitute| Italian/American golf project La Estancia Golf Resort next to Casa de Campo in La Romana. “Future payments to any of these projects should be done to an escrow account or through a title guarantee company.”
|To avoid fraud and corruption in the Dominican property market, Dominican Watchdog has issued a Property Guide with 10 simple rules. We beseech all possible buyers to read our Property Guide before investing in the Dominican Republic. Do not pay money directly to estate agents or property sellers in the Dominican Republic including their overseas agents,” is said, suggesting to contact Dominican Watchdog for a list of trusted lawyers and estate agents in the Dominican Republic. “Beware that estate agents do not need a license to operate in the Dominican Republic.”
The Web site also notes that “your deposit is not covered by any insurance or federation of estate agents. Please note that lawyers in the Dominican Republic do not have a malpractice insurance like their United States' counterparts -- funds on their account are not covered by any guarantee. Before you start a lawsuit in the Dominican Republic we advise you to read our guide lines for Dominican lawsuits since most lawyers overcharge foreign investors by as much as 400-800%.|
It adds that Dominican Watchdog works to expose fraud and corruption in the Dominican Republic, “in the interest of consumer protection.”

Ah...Ha! I been warning people not to buy anything in the DR without enlisting the escrow services of Stewart Title.
The victims almost deserve it because they acted out of total stupidity and greed, -- easily manipulated by unscrupulous colluding developers and unlicensed Brokers acting with impunity.
I welcome this Watchdog group, albeit too late to save many. They are 5 years late, but now we are going to see the cast of characters in this scam! Foreigners and Dominicans are guilty together. This now will finally put an end to scam artists and allow legitimate Developers to rein.
Never buy from a Developer that is not financially strong enough to secure financing and needs to use your deposit. Never let them touch a dime of your deposit especially to pay a Brokers commission up front prior to closing.
This may scar the DR Real Estate industry for a while, --as bad news travels fast, -- but it is very necessary to end the illegitimacy that has prevailed.

underpar,
I'm a nonprofit organization. I do NOT charge a penny from those who contact me. On the other hand I clearly inform people NOT to pay any money to anybody in the DR. Always USE escrow accounts or Stewart Tittle Guarantee! How can that be in my own interest?
If you read my Property Guide its all VERY clear and in the sole interest of the investor. NOT in my personal interest. My job is to guide and warn investors about fraud in the Dominican Republic.
I even inform property buyers how to build and safe money on building materials from Hache and Ochoa - hardly making me any money!!
Maybe you have something to hide....? What is your business? give me a link to your website!
I have recieved over 200 email since the press release - and if you take the time to go to Singingpig.co.uk you will read about a lot of people who got swindled in the DR.
How did you help other people today?

What Is A Troll?
The term derives from "trolling", a style of fishing which involves trailing bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The troll posts a message, often in response to an honest question, that is intended to upset, disrupt or simply insult the group.
Usually, it will fail, as the troll rarely bothers to match the tone or style of the group, and usually its ignorance shows.
Why do trolls do it?
I believe that most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.
Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.
For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.
Remember that trolls are cowards; they'll usually post just enough to g

My legal battle in Dominican Republic is not pretty...I'll tell you that much. It is hell on earth. Leave Dominican Watchdog alone. If he's making money off hits, stop hating. Build your own website and bash Dominican Republic while getting paid - it's a good idea and for a good cause. It is a very corrupt country and it doesn't hurt to bash them so no one else falls for their scams and their way of doing business. I haven't bashed them more because I don't know how. I'm a US Citizen with Dominican heritage and I got duped big time.
I'm not from Panama or Mexico.
