SANTO DOMINGO.- Opposition PRSC party leaders and legislators met with president Leonel Fernandez in the National Palace last night, where the chief executive requested their collaboration to expedite the work on several conflicting points in the Revisory Assembly.
It’s the chief executive’s second meeting with PRSC leaders in the last week, where the support for the Executive Branch’s initiatives on the constitutional reform and a possible electoral alliance were the main topics discussed.
Present in last night’s meeting were most of the PRSC Assembly’s members and a commission of some senior leaders including its president, Federico Antún Batlle, who said the Head of State asked their support on five or six conflicting points of the constitutional reform, citing articles 30 and 49, on abortion and re-election for two periods, respectively, as well as nationality and the judiciary.
Antún denied any type of negotiation with Fernandez. “Here people live off the pettiness, gossip, speculation, this is a country where anyone says anything and the journalists pay them mind, that’s dangerous."
However PRSD deputy Victor (Ito) Bisono said it wasn’t he who lobbies meetings with the President, and questioned his party’s recent closeness with Fernandez. "We’re always thinking of basking in someone’s shade instead of us giving shade to somebody to have credibility and be political option."

The PRSD ate up the PLD ideologically a long time ago.
