Santo Domingo.- The Office for the Land Transport Development Fund (Fondet) began to confiscate buses for debts in arrears of more than 3.4 billion pesos, currently operated by the union Fenatrano, which often stages violent strikes.
Fondet director Cristóbal Cardoza said 56 of the 200 buses affected have been seized so and announced other confiscations in the next few days.
He said the vehicles were seized in San Juan, San Cristóbal, Higüey, La Romana and Santo Domingo that a judge authorized the confiscations.
The official said despite having more than 50 sworn statements by drivers who affirm they paid Fenatrano “those payments haven’t become effective to the Fondet and those bus owners have as many as 60 installments in arrears.”
The head of Fenatrano, Juan Hubieres, has frequently pressed the Government to exempt them from paying the installments.

Collect all that is owed by these UNIONS and those who woe for electricity, etc., then may, just maybe, this beknighted country can begin to say it is GRADUALLY coming into the 21st Century.
For too long, the sub-culture of "screw the government (and screw the Public)" has had a strangle hold on the country.
Now, if thegovernment will just begin to function as it should instead of just for the incumbents, the country will progress.
Which century will this happen in??
