Santo Domingo. – Amid tears and expressions of pain and sadness, relatives, friends and Customs Agency employees bid a final farewell to Miguel Cocco with a 14-gun salute by the Armed Forces in front of the Blandino funeral home.

The military honors for Cocco concluded at 11:15 a.m. at Customs headquarters, where former members of the leftist group June 14 recalled their struggles against Joaquin Balaguer’s repressive regime, chanting and singing its anthem.

Cocco’s family remained in the funeral home after 11:30 a.m. for the private cremation ceremony.

How many good PLD party members are in Spain with LF & Margarita on this trip? How many came back to attend Cocco's services?? Enough said. One of the most Honorable party members does not get respect from his own party leaders. Shopping is more important. Enough said. No further comment needed.

This is a giant loss for our country. He was a good and honest man, unlike those referred to here:

Money worship
Hoy newspaper's Que Se Dice commentator focuses today on the large turnout at the funeral in tribute to drug trafficker Rolando Florian Feliz, known for extreme violence in his life and multiple crimes. Claudio Acosta writes that the tributes to "the leader" work against Dominican society, and are a clear demonstration of inverted values that corrode morality. He makes the point that the worship of Feliz can be attributed to a society where the pursuit of the fast buck has grasped the youth. "But the chief exponents of 'worship of easy money' are not drug traffickers like Florian, as one would think, but politicians who for decades have rubbed their irregularly obtained benefits in our faces with absolute impunity, with fortunes inflated by prevarication and theft, which could be described as the great leap from flip flops to SUVs".

I have heard nothing but positive, honest, dedicated, down to earth, etc... comments about this person. May the country find many political figures like him to go forward. Family members and friends may be proud of what he was and did.

He couldnt have been all that good of a guy if corruption and cronyism has been rampant in all areas of Dominican Customs Authority.

Please. One cannot believe that this man had clean hands.
