Santo Domingo.– State-owned Electrical Companies (CDEEE) to start the process of focusing the subsidy in favor of the poorest families, through the Blackouts Reduction Program (PRA) and the Solidarity Card.

The subsidy will be gradually eliminated and an evaluation will take place so the beneficiary families receive the subsidy through the Solidarity Card. The effective application of the subsidy will be coordinated by the CDEEE, the Coordinating Cabinet of Social Policy through the Unified System of Beneficiaries (Siuben) and the Administrator of Social Subsidies (ADESS).

The government disburses US$160 million per year for the electrical subsidy to families in about 150 barrios within the PRA. Businesses and high consumption homes, no matter their location, are excluded from the program, however, the PRA can include poor homes that are not in Siuben.

A BAD IDEA... Don't Subsidize the energy sector... Use 160 Million Dollars to create jobs in these communities so that they may be able to pay their energy bill....

In D.R. people don't steal electricity ... the electrical company is the one who is stealing ... The lack of energy places a burden on the population and a greater burden on the lower classes. It causes lost on small business and in the households. Electrical appliences are subjected to greater spike and surges, which cuts their lifespan. These things means that people must have more money to cover for these inconviniencies which are created by the Electrical company, no one has done a study on how much people are losing due to power failures but they do studies on how much the power company is losing cause of the failures of people not paying. So, the question will be who is the one that is stealing?????????????????????????????????????????????

The people who consume electricity with paying for it are the ones who are stealing.

He Dominicans wake up !!!!!!!

There is an electricity law in your country read it and claim your rights that are written in it.
Look it up at this link : http://www.phlaw.com/en/publications/articles_021301.htm
Sue for all your blackouts.
But yah the attitude of if he not do it i will not do it makes no sence. Why you Dominicans cannot unit yourself en claim your rights.
Same as the add from last year abd the promise made in it. If every Dominican pays we will guarantee 24/7 electricity. Distributors don't turn the world up side down by punishing the ones that pay over your own misheap of no control you over the illigal tappings.
