Santo Domingo.– A Colombian who crash-landed a small plane in a cane field in the eastern Dominican Republic has been arrested for drug trafficking, a spokesman for the DNCD drug enforcement agency said.

Carlos Arturo Gaviria Viñas brought his plane down Saturday in a sugar-cane plantation in Maguana, a town in Higuey province, and was arrested shortly afterward by army intelligence officers and DNCD agents.

The suspect, who is being held at the DNCD’s East Regional Division office in La Romana, told authorities that he delivered 160 bales of cocaine to seven people, Dominican media reported.

Army intelligence personnel spotted the small plane between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Saturday and headed to the crash site along with drug enforcement agents.

I am not Colombian, and your not Dominican.....
I think they should give them the death penalty if they do not talk. Life if they do, and life with GC if they acted up.

Just yesterday I got into an argument about drugs with the Colombian; he said that the U.S. government and the Colombian president are doing a wonderful job eradicating drugs.
But the united states give Colombia Billions of dollars to fight the FARC and curtail drug trafficking.
How come drug trafficking has increased?
How come the individuals being arrested are Colombian and not Venezuelans as they claim?

Several sources have claimed that the United States is aiding the drug cartels in South America.

Think about it, if they really wanted to stop drug trafficking they could post a Navy carrier on the outskirts of the Dominican Republic.
They have done it before for empire reasons.
Why can’t they do it now? I mean it would detour drug plans.
Who would try to smuggle drugs and be chased by a F-15?

WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS

Problem solved= legalize! Even Vincenti Fox says amongst many others say legalize. No one will ever be able to stop the flow of drugs. Prohibition was repealed because one reason they could not stop the flow. A carrier would be nice if only to remove the PLD/PRD.

He didn't have the stash or the cash when he crashed so he got locked up. I bet if the authorities found money on the plane we would not be reading this story. veryone involved would live happily ever after.

The Generals and ex-Generals bring in the drugs from the Columbian cartels. The US government, like everybody in RD, knows this. As long as puppets like Leonel let US business and political interests do what they want in RD, they will ignore the sick corruption in the country.
RD also under-reports dengue so that tourism doesn't suffer. You think they're going to report Swine Flu?
