SANTO DOMINGO.- The Supreme Court issued an arrest warrant prior to the extradition of two suspects accused of having contracted gunmen from the Dominican Republic to execute a New York District Attorney who investigated the case against ex Army captain Quirino Paulino.
Edwin Pimentel Tejada and Marcos Abad de la Cruz have been already arrested, whereas the police are after a third person allegedly part of the plot, whose last name is Perez y Perez, who reportedly funded the planned hit on the New York Assistant DA, who hasn’t been identified.
The U.S. authorities accuse the group of conspiring to contract gunmen, and showed videos and conversations as proof of the plan.
Paulino was arrested in December, 2004, with 1,387 kilos of cocaine headed to New York, where the hood admitted having shipped more than 30,000 tons of narcotics to the U.S.
Most of the 22 people accused in New York, including Paulino, entered plea bargaining with the prosecution, result of which the ex military officer’s relatives were acquitted of money laundering charges.
