The DNCD reported it seized these items.
Santo Domingo.- The Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) said its agents foiled a narcotics airdrop from a small plane in a rural community of Miches (northeast) dawn Thursday, amid an exchange of gunfire with those waiting to receive it, arresting three suspects, while others escaped in the cover of dark.
Late last week the Agency foiled another airdrop in the East, when its agents seized around 30 packages of drugs presumably cocaine, and a small plane in the La Malena village of Higüey.
In a statement DNCD president Gilberto Delgado said the agents seized an AK-47 assault rifle, a police uniform, two-way radios, a Toyota pickup truck, among others items from the detainees.
He said one of the suspects fled on a vehicle while firing on the agents who were not injured, whereas others escaped into the woods, and identified one of the detainees as Ruddy Parcela.
Delgado said radar detected the plane entering Dominican airspace around 30 miles from Saona Island (southeast), and determined that it was headed to the El Seibo-Miches zone for the airdrop, prompting the mobilization of its East region personnel.

If drugs can get into DR so can guns, guns can sell for a lot in DR.
Not only to criminals but to citizens that want to protect them selves from criminals.
The Arms trade is a big business, and with the high cost of fire arms, permits and high crime rate in DR I see fire arms as the next big thing in trafficking.

Congratulations to the DNCD who are working very hard to limit the trafficing of drugs ..i have seen them at night and during the day on various main roads searching vehicles for guns and drugs and I think they are doing a dangerous job very well .. it is not difficult to bring weapons into this country by way of sea or air so it can be assumed that these evil drug dealers will always have powerful guns ..the radar has been operating for some time and I believe the DR has asked the USA for additional surveillance equipment ..all in all a very good job

This is a smokescreen!! Everybody knows that the Generals bring in drugs from the Columbian cartels, and that the police deal the drugs in RD. And the US knows it but doesn't care, because RD will do whatever it wants, which is to let US businesses use Dominicans as slave labor, sowing clothes.
