The best way to stop discriminating against Black Dominicans (Cocolitos-as) is to legalize those who were born on the Dominican land. We need to talk seriously about race in Dominican Republic. We cannot imagine how many black Dominican geniuses we're killing by putting them on the fringe of the Dominican society.
It's hypocrite when a black president cannot say that is black. Dominicans must stop being HYPOCRITE, and work for a better future...

The Dominican government need to put pressure on Haiti's government to do something on their side of the island because Haiti's official only show their face when some bad happens in DR. The solution either tide their belt of face mass deportation. We are already taking care of 20 percent of Haiti so the last thing we need is Haiti's Gov. to be talking like they have done everything right and start taking care of their people. Nothing good will happen if they only show their face to NGOs or UN to tell them we are doing bad because that is undermining their own benefits they are getting from DR now and if this keeps going is not going to be a pretty picture. I believe that people born in DR should be the way to go as Citizenship goes but in reality that won't work because of the inefficiency of border protection on both sides.

Who can blame them, xwill7? The prostitute card is the only cheap shot that these mentally challenged dudes can use to get to us, which can't be compared with millions of beggars, street peddlers and restaveks that they send to us on a daily basis. I could wager that those women don't represent even a 1% of their population, contrary to their rejects, which represent almost a 20% of the population of the DR nowadays (and this is only a conservative estimate, mind you).

First there is 1.2 million Dominicans in USA which according to official number only 37,000 are in USA ilegally so the Massively that you are talking about just doesn't exist. 90+ percent of Dominicans in USA are there legally paying their taxes to uncle sam to enjoy their freedom so Walking around half naked and dancing at a bar is part of personal freedom which exist in USA for everybody to enjoy you can choose not to do it but don't tell others what to do. so please when you going to talk non-sense bring up some numbers to support you points. Would you mind telling where you live so i can bring up official numbers. In DR Haitians get treated better than in their own country and Haitians know that but is hard to find one with enought guts to say it in public. Imagine a “Jus Sanguini” law in the United States…!!!
The sole issue is to separate Black Dominicans from others. That’s all it is about…? How can a society is so divided because of race while all citizens are contributing to the progress of that same society? It’s poignantly painful to see that, and it’s also a shame that Dominican lawmakers are discriminating against their own fellow citizens.

The truth of the feelings toward Haitians is we don't mind they coming in LEGALLY and working here because we understand the situation in Haiti is just not good. But when 90 percent of those coming in are not legally here then it becomes a problem because everything they do here is not registered anywhere i.e. if they commit a crime how would you find somebody who just doesn't exist anywhere in this country. every independent country decides of who is allow to coming in or not. i.e. Mexico,USA and Canada where canadians can coming in as they please but not mexicans. We have never said stop issuing Visa and legal papers to Haitian all we said was stop coming in ilegally

Trujillo said on time he didn t know what he would give to make Santo Domingo look alike Port au Prince.Haiti is in crisis.DR has been able to take the benefits of what Trujillo has made there. That s it. If DR is how it is now, you have to thank the foreign investors and the foreign hard workers (haitians). ANd don t you guys ever forget that some of the great political men of DR were sons of foreigners : Ulisse Heureaux, Trujillo (haitian grand mother), Balaguer, Juan Bosch, etc . In the USA, we have the son of a musilm african father with an american mother. Sarkozy is grand-son of an austrian , well in the world the nationality has changed its signifacation. You best get off your high horse and do something for your people rather than sit and make childish comments about Dominicans. You Haitians think that we are the solution and cause to your problems. You need to learn to deal with your own problems yourselves, there are no free rides in life. Most Dominicans respect Haitians, but you guys always have that deep down hatred for us even after you enter our country illegally and are given work. The level of ignorance that I see on these forums from many Haitians is ridiculous. If you want change then DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR COUNTRY. You need to take your criminals back to Haiti because many Haitians go to DR and commit many crimes, like the man that beheaded his employer. You are another example of the Haitian "victim complex". Your people can do no wrong, they are squeaky clean and are always mistreated by DR and want the world to see, THAT'S PURE BS! GROW UP!

The DR's economic system rests on Haiti's shoulders. That's what the narrow-minded can't understand. I wish Haiti's government could/would work to keep Haitians home. I don't see why anyone would want to live in the DR. Haitians are going there to humiliate themselves and all Haitians that are living abroad or are doing well in Haiti. What's worst is that the Dominican government is deeply involved in the violation of basic human rights: right to live. Haiti is poor but the DR is a barbaric and delinquent state. Sad that Haiti's government is so passive about all the crimes that are being committed against the Haitian nationals living in the DR. they need to man-up and do their job which to convince Haitians to go back, demand justice for the victims, close the borders, stop doing business with the DR and create an atmosphere for the people to stay home. If Haiti work on it, it can be ready for mass deportation of Haitians back to Haiti and DR ready for its prostitutes. Done deal.

Nobody here is saying for Haitians to stop negotiating with DR we are just talking about the big immigration problem there is. If the illegal immigration was not a problem i bet something would had been in place for those who are willing to come in legally and even those that were born in DR soil. Haitians need to understand that if they keep coming in ilegally they are just hurting those who are doing it legally and even those born in DR. i.e. if USA wakes up tomorrow with 75 million ilegall immigrant do you think they would be as friendly as they are now. just imagen that there is only 5 million and there is already fighting going on the border and states close to the border and i know cause i live in Texas.

I have said this earlier on comment and many times on the forum. I have no problem at all with Haitians coming in legally and as faq i have said i understand that the situation in Haiti is just not good and i been there many times(11 or 12 times) to confirm this but thats not an excuse for people to break the laws on other countries. If the immigration laws keep being broken then it just hurts those Haitians that are doing the right thing to come into the country legally. The solution for Haiti is not to cross the border is to fight in Haiti with their polititians to make sure they get it done just like Domincans fight with our polititians just to get done everyday.

It looks like you forgot to pay your brain bill lately. You said only 30,000 dominicans are illegal in the US. Are you out of your mind? There are more Dominicans than that in NJ and NY! I am against illegal immigration, wherever it comes from. But it's mind blowing that you want people to believe that y'all come in the US legally. Almost everyday dominicans are caught in Puerto Rico's waters; last month we had a set of them who got saved by coast guards. The ones that were found were still alive because they ate the dead people's bodies. I definitely felt bad for the children. But stop acting like y'all got visas to enter the US. Liar!

Haiti don't produce enough to feed it's own population, they import way much more than what they export. That's why so much rice comes from the U.S. they can't produce enough most of the land is not feasible for agricultural production. If it wasn't for the U.S., N.G.O's in Haiti, food and other essential products of the Dominican Republic you'll be doomed. Haiti is not the D.R.'s most important trading partner don't embaress yourselves, the U.S. and Europe are. You say you're against illegal immigration, yet you criticize us because we say we don't want such a high influx of Haitian illegals like we currently have and we want to do something about it! What a double standard! So, you mean to tell me that you are all for the planned U.S. deportation of 30,000 illegal Haitians also? Yeah right! Dominicans don't all come to the U.S. legally, but whether you want to see it or not, the majority of us don't come here to the U.S. illegaly. And your mentioning of the amount of illegal Dominicans entering PR is moot because it is no where near the amount of illegal Haitians that currently live in DR. i have read it before there is part that are true and some are not. Dr. Ernesto Sagas is a Cuban writer born in new york telling the story of DR/Haiti. I bet you he has never wrote a book or a paragrahp about blacks in Cuba because it doesn't serve him any good. He was raised in Puerto rico until 22 when came back to USA and has never been to Haiti or DR. Being against illegal immigration do not justify killings and decapitations of people. I talked the way I did because you dominicans are acting like you all don't invade other people's country. I am not proud of seeing people from my country of origin going to the neighbors that's no better than them. The DR is no place for people to immigrate, legally or illegally because there is no reason for it. let them work their own sugar cane fields. Stop talking like dominicans are saints because they are not. I repeat, where I live and work, dominicans are the problem.
It's time that Dominicans stop thinking that they are white and stop killing Haitians (and black dominicans). Most of the hate coming from Dominicans towards Haitians is about skin color and features. Ridiculous! Dominicans have contempt for people with darker skin. Stop the nonsense already.
From: United States, New York City
"Ernesto Sagas don't even know that most white Cubans have roots in the Dominican Republic."
That's only partially true, Some of Cuba's elites do have roots in DR but one must keep in mind that something like 800,000 Spaniards immigrated to Cuba in the period 1880-1930. If you talk to most white cubans you'll see that they have a very close relative, be it a grandparent or great-grandparent, from Spain. With that said I find Sagas' research to be on the money even if his conclusions are his own.
From: United States, New York City
"Dominicans have contempt for people with darker skin."
And you've been to the Dominican Republic how many times? How many Dominicans do you know PERSONALLY that are aptly described by the statement you just made?
From: United States, NY/NJ
The_thinker, the essay is accurate to an extent however much of the views expressed there aren't necessarily that of the general population. Yes, we have different names for Dominicans of different skin tones depending on features like una indiecita, un indio, but that only is used for skin tones by name. The majority of DR are mulatto's and we know this and it is taught in schools. The essay speaks of parts of the past but not 100% accurately. I;m all for having good relations with Haiti when they enter legally. If we had the resources of the USA we'd definitely have better relations and help for illegal immigrants, but the difference here is resources. We do not dislike you, because we are similar and have similar backgrounds. I have Haitian friends here in the US and we get along just fine. Back in DR/Haiti different story, until we cleanse our governments of corruption both of us shall can continue this cycle of survival of fittest until a drastic change happens. (cont.)

The essay speaks of differences between us mainly in religion and language which are, frankly some of the main things that make us so different. culture wise, which is the 2nd thing that it really boils down to. At this point in time DR has its own culture and values as do you and many generations have already been born and died with these beliefs and it will continue to be until the end of time. Even though I have respect for Sagas' work after reading the article posted by said author I have to conclude that it's pretty weak. His whole thesis, that antihaitianismo stems solely from the elite, is false. He fails to mention the incursion made by Soulouque as a factor that strengthened antagonism between our two peoples during the first Republic and he makes the false claim that most of the officers stationed in DR during the Haitian occupation were ex-slaves who lacked cultural refinement and as a result were shunned by Dominican elites. Recent research done by the Dominican Institute of Genealogy clearly demosntrated that the bulk of the haitian officers stationed in DR during the occupation were mulattoes who often times married into elite Dominican families.

Sagas stresses the desire of early 19th century Dominicans to be anything but haitians but our liberation from France was gained at the point of a sword so obviously we didn't want to be French, either, but yet he puts no emphasis on this very telling fact. Sagas then proceeds to call our ties to our Amerindian past a "myth", which has been proven to be accurate beyond a reasonable doubt by genetic testing as of late. Too many holes in this one.

No one here is saying that because someone is an illegal in another country, that a native of that said country has the right to decapitate an illegal immigrants head. Please stop being selective with your reading and interpretation of what has happened! What you Haitians are so obviously ignoring is that your beheaded compatriot PRIOR to being decapitated had also decapitated his boss, who employed him and provided him with a way to make an honest living. So, of course the boss's brother as we have seen was not one to cross his shoulders and wait for the Dominican justice system to just jail this guy that probably wouldn't have gotten the punishment he deserved and he proceeded with murdering him in the same manner in which your compatriot murdered his brother. I could understand if you guys were angry overn an innocent Haitian getting killed, but to be so emotional over a worthless human being such as equally barbaric Haitian is beyond my comprehension. The same goes for Haitian neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Miami, and elsewhere! Do you not see the image that your people were given in the movie Bad Boys?! Just like most other minorities, the Haitians that succeed in the U.S. and do well for themselves dont live in these neighborhoods with their own people! And NO we do not INVADE any other country in the way in which Haitians are trying to invade ours! There is no place with Dominican immigrants in the world, that has most of them being illegal!! Humans on a grass roots level change the world. People can move forward to support a cause and find alternatives to feed the hungry, support educational endeavors, or provide homes for people who can use them. Providing food, an education, and a home is certainly a way to help this planet to be a better one. Addressing a president, a country or congress while being or not being a senator may get the topic on the table but not on a national or international agenda. But if enough human beings take responsibility for each other we may get farther in less time. It’s not an exaggeration to say that both countries had never have a profound disagreement, or indisputable and unsolved problems.
Immigration is a complex issue, but it can be solved if we play by the rules. We have to provide those who are living in Dominican Republic with legal documents, and dissuade those who want to cross the border illegally from doing so. WE MUST NOT FREELY GIVE AWAY OUR CITIZENSHIP
With regards to the decapitated Haitian, the Dominican was just reciprocating the action of the Haitian to the Haitian so that they get a taste of their own medicine!
Amen!!

Let Justice really be served, it is in the best interest of both Dominicans and Haitians that this crime does not go unpunished. The cold blooded murder of TWO humans and their family have been destroyed. Everybody talks just about the one Haitian who was murder but never say that it was a act of revenge. If we are to talk in a civil way then we must say the full story here and not make it sound as one guys life is more valuable than the other i know the world expect Dominicans to behave better than Haiti because we are more stable but we both know the full story here let's not try to play anybody. With all that said the Dominican man is in custody and will get prosecuted if found guilty and i hope that Haiti's gov. doesn't just hide now and go back to just collecting check's from the public and do nothing for their people.

haitians use their poverty to manipulate and force their entry to dr
enough, enough, i want war, let's bleed the island white and stop discussing this non-sense. for years, i fooled myself thinking that haitians were able to appreciate what we have done for them. this ungrateful people don't deserve our respect. war, war and more war. once we declare war we can unity our people behind the project and declare state of emmergence. don't let la patria die. let's give our blood to save it.

Identity ! and so are Americans [ the great melting pot ] just think of you were to go back far enough to your roots you'll probably end up in Europe some where. Or to be an American one must have a certain color, ethnic, religion, race or creed....NOPE, it's a way of life, unless your Navajo, Sue, Cherokee etc..etc.. The elders still resist the American life style and prefer their own tradition / culture.
There's Prostitutes in every major U.S City, better if you hire a call girl only a phone call away, at least you won't be seen in the streets, out of sight out of mind.
Cheaters....How about about large American corporations and should I name a few ! like Obama's staff.

The Zapatazo is not that original. I have a better idea. We all buy a Haitian flag. Amazon carries those for 5 to 6 dollars. Then we deposite them in public urinal right after the clean the place and wait until serveral people force their liquid on it. Then we go back and take pictures and bring them online. That sounds like a plan. For my part I going to see how soon I can get my Haitian flags. Then we go to stage two, buy Haitian flag for you personal use. That means #2, then we publish them here and wait to see the reaction by the cucaracha (I know Hotel Rwanda language). Sorry, I did not want to offend Rwandans, they are nice people.

You know for a fact that no PR national would be here posting snit , defending haitians, PRicans have their own destiny and they have a country to worry about, this troll is just trying to justify the 2.5 millions hungry haitians in DR, and he fails to mention that PR deports 1000's of dominicans every year and you don't see dominicans burning the PR flag and slandering PR everywhere like this ungrateful animals that are trying to infest our country.
What he doesn't wanna talk about is the rap haitians have abroad, a reputation for burning and looting and then demanding a humane treatment when they commit crimes in foreign land.

Deal with reality, there are more than 150,000 dominicans in PR. It's more like 20-25% of pop. most of them illegals who forged pr documents to pass as them. Why is Drs always make the claim that pr and dr are linked when the fact is most PRs will kill you if you mistake them as Drs. Dominicans should try to be proud of their country and root. While I understand the grass is greener in PR, but the PR government cannot take all you.
You always claim that , my grandparents were prs, trying to infer superiority. Listen, many Jamaicans can also claim to have brittish grandparents, many of them can. They are not brittish citizens. Many of them live in Great Britain illegal and routinely get deported back to JA.
Stop making the claim that you are prs and have to right to be there either because you speak spanish or some FANTASY GRANDPARENTS CLAIM. YOU ARE NOT PR US CITIZENS. THEY DON'T WANT YOU IN THEIR COUNTRY. SO GET THE STEPPING!

Crime, Drugs, Sex and the Dominican Republic,Recent CNN coverage of the Dominican Republic as a drug runners’ haven has led to increased concern over the impact of this on tourism, one of the staples of the Dominican economy. In truth, the Dominican Republic has always played its part in narcotrafficking, for at least the last 20 years. It was used as a transhipment point receiving drugs from Latin America for onward transmission to the US. This trade left all but the country's politicians and some high-ranking military officers largely untouched. The population if they knew about it at all shrugged their shoulders; the politicians and military involved pocketed their payoffs and those few foreigners caught smuggling were given long jail sentences.

there is one thing that i can not really understand. dominicans seem to forget that they were also slaves and treat haitians piece of shit. do they ever think on how much money haitian students are spending in their contry? do they think about how much we haitian push their economy? it's really sad to see a black calling another black, it's sad to see dominicans who were once slave as we were slave are not seeing us like that. i am sure those bastards must have something to do with hitler's reign and you never know, they might not have been colonized by spain, but my hitler's regim at that time. it's really sad to see that we share the same island and we can't live a peaceful life, why we always mistreat when we threat them like a piece of gold? what do they have better? their skincolor? i guess not. the best thing for us haitians to do is to stay away from them, no more partnership, no more trades, no visitor then they will realize what we worth. i wish dessalines was alive.

Something must be done to stop Haitians, illegal or not from crossing the border. Deporting them back to Haiti will be a burden for the Haitian goverment, but they are desparately needed here in Haiti to do the same type of work that they are doing in the Dominican republic. They can work in construction, farming, ect. They will be a big boost to the Haitian economy. Without the Haitian farmers, Haitians found themselves buying eggs from the Dominicans, that's a shame.
This is what needs to be done to resolve this problem that has been going for so long.
1- Deport all Haitians living in the Dominican republic legal and illegal back to Haiti
2- Close the border.
3- Any Haitian anywhere in Haiti and abroad found in posession of anything made in the Dominican Republic shall be put to death. Read the label when you are making a purchase to find out who made the product and where it's from.
4- Any Haitian or Dominican attempted to cross the border shall be put to death.

1. Limit the Haitian presence to 125000 at any given time. No more.
2. Don't accept the so called Haitian-Dominicans. That's an oxymoron.
3. Return the rest to Haiti as soon as possible

USA they come open arms and in part embrace the black American music and partially the culture. Not that we care, but, Do you think Dominicans will do that if they were racist?
I have many African Americans friends that there is nothing in this world I wouldn't do for them because, I love them, and they sincerely love me back.
This is about Haitians people, the culture, a past they keep on remind us of, and that is why we don't trust them and do not want them. Because as you can see by all the Haitians posts here, they have the same motives and mentality they had 200 years ago, they want to invade us and consume us and our little resources.
otherwise we will have to say good by to our nation and our nationality.
I am sure that people in Haiti do not want me to go to Haiti and make a half Dominican half Haitian baby. Also, America is a country of immigrants there is mixed people, Dominicana is an island
mass deportation and border wall?
Who can blame them, xwill7? The prostitute card is the only cheap shot that these mentally challenged dudes can use to get to us, which can't be compared with millions of beggars, street peddlers and restaveks that they send to us on a daily basis. I could wager that those women don't represent even a 1% of their population, contrary to their rejects, which represent almost a 20% of the population of the DR nowadays (and this is only a conservative estimate, mind you).
I agree. Also, I don't now why they try talk about prostitutes, every country has working girls whats the big deal, nothing new here? Some girls need extra money so they work in this field.
I can provide links to show how they get treated in Haiti if you want.
there are more than 1.2 in NY/NJ alone. If you count the number of Dominican/American this number is way higher
“Jus Sanguini” for Dominicans…
Humm, I wonder : Who is native Dominican? What will be the process of selecting real Dominicans without refusing to recognize the right of young black Dominicans as complete citizens?
Imagine a “Jus Sanguini” law in the United States…!!!
The sole issue is to separate Black Dominicans from others. That’s all it is about…? How can a society is so divided because of race while all citizens are contributing to the progress of that same society? It’s poignantly painful to see that, and it’s also a shame that Dominican lawmakers are discriminating against their own fellow citizens.
It’s time to think again about the type of society you’re building in this 21st century…
I totally agree with you. I have today beside of all political issues, Haitians are very welcoming. They treat Dominicans very well in Haiti.
We have never said stop issuing Visa and legal papers to Haitian all we said was stop coming in ilegally
http://www.webster.edu/~corbetre/haiti/misctopic/dominican/antihaiti.htm
The problem starts with the elite in Dominican republic. Ignorance is a disease. Believe me or not, the elite always wants to take advantage of the mass.
Peace, love, and understanding.
Please take a look at this essay, and provide your analysis:
http://www.webster.edu/~corbetre/haiti/misctopic/dominican/antihaiti.htm
I've been seeing this line repeated again and again by certain posters on here. Hilarious.
600 millions dollars in goods were exported from DR to Haiti in 2008 only while only 3 millions from Haiti to DR.
Do the math.
you wrote 10 lines of comments and didn't say anything that somebody with a brain would say. You make women as a whole look really bad with all your ignorance and arrogant way of talking. I'm done arguring with you. There is nothing worth my time coming out of you. Keep living in LALAL land and taking your welfare from my tax money.
600 millions dollars in goods were exported from DR to Haiti in 2008 only while only 3 millions from Haiti to DR.
so whats your point here:
We can produce goods to sale and they consume isn't that the way to get rich in a business world but i guess not in your mind. What do you think would happen if this goods don't come into Haiti is there s plan in place to build them locally why do you think USA needs China so much because they produce the goods.
Just to show how important the good rapport between both nations is vital and important, specially, for the Dominican Republic.
I bet with you while both us are using our time to type those comments, the Elite has already banked on us. Trust me on that one.
People use division to conquer.
Do the math."
Indeed Haiti is an important trading partner but to say that DR's economy rests on haiti's shoulders is beyond a stretch.
Based on your answer, you described the issue as an immigration one. Ok, now here is a question for you...Please, do answer it with pure honesty:
Do you have any issue ( I mean any) with a legal Haitian who lives in DR?
How do you react to this essay: http://www.webster.edu/~corbetre/haiti/misctopic/dominican/antihaiti.htm
Do you have any issue ( I mean any) with a legal Haitian who lives in DR?
Liar!
Thanks for the answer. I hope many Domincans can share the same rationalization as well. And now please, I would like to get your reaction to the essay's link I have posted earlier.
Thanks
The Thinker
Are you partially dyslexic or are you doing selective reading? Belly clearly indicated that there are about 1.2 million Dominicans in the U.S. out of which approx. 37,000 are illegals (and that's throughout the U.S.). And trust me all Dominicans also wish that the Haitian gov't would work so that Haitians would stay on their side!!!
I can see through your note, a lot of Hate. Just to quote you " Haiti is last in the totem poll as far as benefiting the D.R. at any significant rate ".....
Even The_Analyst, and Belly would not agreed with you on that one. Maybe you can provide your reaction to the essay as well:
http://www.webster.edu/~corbetre/haiti/misctopic/dominican/antihaiti.htm
This is not the point. Just give your reaction to the essay.
Thanks.
Also, this is for both Belly and The_Analyst,
How do you react to this essay: http://www.webster.edu/~corbetre/haiti/misctopic/dominican/antihaiti.htm
i have read it before there is part that are true and some are not. Once again you have somebody who has no clue of what happens in reality telling the story of 2 countries he has never been to. You have to understand a book is his personal opinion on what has happened is not a official history of both countries.
Thanks, it's a profound piece of history between both countries, DR and Haiti...
Piece is just rubbish, garbage of the worse kind, and one sided.
Why don't you guys talk about Anti-Dominicanismo that is was ingrained in the first racist Haitian constitutions that discriminated against whites?
It's time that Dominicans stop thinking that they are white and stop killing Haitians (and black dominicans). Most of the hate coming from Dominicans towards Haitians is about skin color and features. Ridiculous! Dominicans have contempt for people with darker skin. Stop the nonsense already.
And you've been to the Dominican Republic how many times? How many Dominicans do you know PERSONALLY that are aptly described by the statement you just made?
Why can't You little people from these little countries get along to evolve. We need each other because of these facts:
Close to 50% of the dominican EXPORTATION goes to Haiti. They need that money.
They have 30,000 haitian workers in the construction area, which represents 80 to 85% of the work force in that feild. They need these workers.
Plus more facts...
Haiti, does NOT produce anything and does not have sufficient ports or airports to import abroad. Dominican is a sure bet for them to get goods. They need these goods.
Haitians transfer 300 millions dollars US to Haiti from the DR yearly. They need that money.
Plus more facts..
I doubt that very much, that Haiti absorbs 50% of DR's exports. You'll need to show me were it is that you got that figure from.
Haitians have made an important contribution to the development of Dominican society and the economy of the Dominican Republic, increasingly in diverse sectors. But they can't be accepted for who they are.
So you are asking for us to get along yet come in disrespecting both countries by the way ya'll are more Little than we are in the island the average height is higher here. more like 5'10 than yours 4'11
The lastest survey in 2009 has the list on countries worse for Human rights violation and it goes like this
Source: CIDH black list
1. Colombia
2.Cuba
3.Haiti
4. Venezuela
DR is not any where near
What's the truth? And you didn't answer my question: Do you PERSONALLY know any Dominicans that are aptly desribed by the comments you made? Have you yourself been to DR?
Please, tell me that you're joking. How can you be so naive to believe that someone can make a sound judgement about a country IN ONE WEEK? The only thing that I see here is a strawman argument from your part. Also, based on the "one drop rule" prevalent on the country that you're living in now (USA), could you honestly classify the dominican political class as white?
We all have our stentghs and weaknesses, but we have on common thing:
RED BLOOD, and breathing the same AIR
cont'd
(cont.)
If you knew all that why on earth would you being a smartone introduce your self like that in a public area.
Well said. Like i said before you have a guy who was born in NY from Cuban parents raised in Puerto Rico came back to NY at 22 who has never been to either DR or Haiti telling the history of 2 countries he has only seen in Flickr.com and heard of in the NY times. now how creditble can he be.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_Dominican_Republic
And please stop talking the BS about Dominicans that live here in the U.S. being a problem in the neighborhoods that they live in. You act as if the neighborhoods that Haitians reside in the U.S. are paradise! FAR FROM IT! Here where I live in Jersey some of the cities with the highest crime and murder rates (East Orange, Orange, Irvington) boast some of the largest Haitian populations in the Northeast so please stop pointing fingers because you are in no position to do so. (cont)
I am sure that there is a theory where there is a reason why we all need to get along.
And I am certain that haitians and dominicans need to.
On the other hand, I do not buy your height facts about the two communities,
but my main point is that there is a common interest for both countries.
You still haven't answered the question I posed to you so I'm going to have to assume that you're basing your opinions on second hand information.
I respect ladies as much as possble but why do you keep running your mouth without bringing any faqs to everything you say. who prove what tell me the sources i'm tired of hearing you talk about surveys, studies, announcements and all that non-sense tell me the source of what you are talking about so you won't sound like a idiot just saying stuff online.
Paisa, I don't even have to see official numbers to know that the 50% claim was nonsense.
It's time you also stop playing the godforsaken RACE CARD!!! Go look at the treatment your people are getting in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Cuba, and even here in the U.S. where I have to keep reminding you that 30,000 are about to be deported and there's nothing you can do about it!!
Are you playing the race card in the U.S., too? How about in the bahamas where Haitian children are not allowed in the schools now because they are overburden with the massive influx of Haitian illegals there and you guys have some balls to come on here and talk the way in which you about DR where you are allowed to work, go to school, attend our hospitals, take jobs away from other poor Dominicans. UNGRATEFUL BASTARDS!!!
If they are not your freinds how, then, did you manage to initiate a dialogue with these so-called Dominicans whereby they let their feelings on Haitians known to you? So obviously you yourself haven't been to DR as well.
http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/....Dominican-racism-against-Haitians
I will post the site about their conclusions. No one is making up Racism allegations. They have been proven.
Very good point. The Haitian diaspora is mums the word when it comes to this one.
491 some millions come from US exports, yearly.
and 500 some millions come from Haiti exports.
Do the MATH.
You are feeding most of haiti, 40% of their importation, what do You expect ?
By the way these figures are from random newspapers facts.
This petty altercation is only of great benefit to the elites who have interest in seeing both parts of the island so divided. The Haitian elite is doing business with the Dominican elite. They all are making worthy money together, and they have common interest.
But the point is, by far both side of the island are fighting like wild cats and dogs, higher can be both elites’ economic profits. Dominicans and Haitians are fooled by those extremist elites. This blame game all across both countries is unnecessary, thus we need to understand what’s exactly at stake here…
Dominicans and Haitians need to speak in a united voice against racial discrimination all across the island. We all need to work on legislation to fix the immigration system that will hurt us mightily…
Have a good day!
By the way, Nice Blog, ..., it was my first day.
Stay True and stop the hate.

Check out that link and you will find out that what happens in DR is not what is cause the major problems in Haiti. The problem in Haiti is that polititians are selling everything they can to the highest bidder and only show their face to critisize other countries and then go hide and collect a paycheck from the public.
If you know Dominicans that don't hide their resentment about Haitians, you should hear what I've heard other Caribbean peoples (even African Americans!) express themselves about Haitians! It is not in a favorable tone! If you live in the U.S. then you certainly know this, but of course it's much easier to go and condemn and the DR, yes, yes, so much easier!!!
I wouldn't call it panic, I would call it feeling insulted. Maybe you fancy people from outside of your country of origin going there and passing judgment on said society but I and many Dominicans find such behavior offensive. What are we, Roman provinces being visited by the metropolis's proconuls?!? In the end you have to ask yourself a VERY simple question: If Haitians have it so bad in DR then why are so many of them there, why do they keep coming, and why are many known to return even after being deported?
Indeed JEM is not all over the place. The hypocrisy and arbitrary manner by which the haitian diaspora chooses to treat the issue of Haitians abroad has everything to do with what's being discussed here.
This petty altercation is only of great benefit to the elites who have interest in seeing both parts of the island so divided. The Haitian elite is doing business with the Dominican elite. They all are making worthy money together, and they have common interest.

This is indeed true and I PERSONALLY have heard many such comments from the groups mentioned by JEM. I guess the antihaitian sentiment among those communities is based on skin color as well.
Specially when it's so easy to talk BS from an ivory tower on a foreign land. Why don't they go to Haiti and see for themselves the dreadful condition in which their countrymen have to survive on a daily basis?
The decapitation you are referring to was an act of revenge and not some random act. Is that so difficult to understand?
Again, as cibaeño asked you, if the DR is such a hellhole for haitians, WHY DO YOU KEEP COMING? Did you know that the haitian that was lynched killed a dominican in the same bloody manner? You know well that if the haitian in question would have made is deed on the USA he would have been given the death penalty outright, no questions asked, so please, spare us the hypocrite and dumb sensitivities, would you?
she is not worried about the Dominican that was killed or even the 115 Haitians UN killed in Haiti she is just worried about the horrific act of that crazy dominican who dare to kill a murderer
Hasta luego.
"Lautaro: I don't go to your cesspool. Never will."
Oh wow, "how insulting" don't worry we won't miss you!! Now, I'm gonna tell you like the Haitians in Bad Boys said to Will Smith:
"The Devil Not Welcome Here!"
So bye and be gone!!! Peace!!
OK, now you just want to make me cry.
Why do you think people in herrera took justice in their own hands, it wasn't for a twisted lust for haitian blood or to send a message to other haitians that we are mosters and we will kill you all, it was out of frustration with the authorities, for the lack of responsabilities of those in a position of power doing their own business to get rich and not enforcing the laws.
What happened to Carlos Nerilus should be a wake up call for Dominicans to put pressure in our gov to enforce already inplace inmigration laws and to stop using the border as thier personal colmado (cont)
specially people like firstlady509 that live abroad and have done jack znit for his country and only knows how to cry from abroad. good luck making a show in boston, hope you get a good showing since nobody gives a znit what happen to haiti or haitians in DR since the 1800's.
Is time to stop crying and start working in your own back yard.
I wouldn't even call it that. Again, it was an act of revenge, not some random act.
did a Dominican player break your heart that you hate Dominicans so much?
CRIA CUERVOS Y TE SACARAN LOS OJOS!!!!
http://www.mibazaar.com/corruptcountries/
Haitian Nationals look at yourself in the mirror and ask this question.
Are we really that bad, do we have any pride or nationalistic passion?
why are we craying so much, we have a country is call haiti, lets build it and forget about these evil dominicanz, lets stop complaining about racism and quit this good life we live abroad and let us go back to haiti and use our education to help my country become something instead of begging for rights and understanding on a foreign land?
Until haitians don't build a nation that is a relaible partner with laws and institutions the DR will always carry the burden of millions of haitians flooding throu the border.
mark my words, more heads are going to roll (unfortunatly)
We must help build the wall and mass deportation to all now.
I want to ask Dominican people from everywhere to consider Haitian people like brothers. We need to be SMARTER than the extremist Haitians and Dominicans who are trying to fade away the relationship between both countries.
I contacted some medias in Port-au-Prince (HAITI), and the information related to the death of two Dominican women is WRONG and WRONG… We should understand that there’s a group of people (Dominicans and Haitians) who is ready to seize any opportunity to flare up any type of dissension between Haiti and DR. We need to be clever than those who are always working on dividing both countries.
Haitians and Dominicans, stay cool… We should be SMARTER than the extremist Haitians and Dominicans. May GOD bless you all…
There must be another way

Haiti don't produce enough to feed it's own population, they import way much more than what they export. That's why so much rice comes from the U.S. they can't produce enough most of the land is not feasible for agricultural production. If it wasn't for the U.S., N.G.O's in Haiti, food and other essential products of the Dominican Republic you'll be doomed. Haiti is not the D.R.'s most important trading partner don't embaress yourselves, the U.S. and Europe are. The National Council for Private Enterprise (Conep), the Association of Young Business Leaders, Secretary of Industry and Commerce Melanio Paredes, the Federation of Industrial Associations (FAI), economist Hugo Rivera and the Association of Poultry Producers of the North, agree that the negotiation process would yield positive results, but that the idea merits deep study.
Lisando Macarrulla, president of Conep, said Haiti as a market has great importance for Dominican Republic and presents the advantage of being accessible by overland routes. However, he suggested analyzing the agreements established by the European Economic Community and Caricom with respect to Haiti because “we would have to consid
Paredes said the countries of the European Union have always connected the economic destinies of Haiti and Dominican Republic and at times have expected this country to do more for the other than what they were able to. “Any initiative undertaken as an island would formalize our commercial relations, which surpass US$700 million, and would help with the disappearance of cartels, spurious mechanisms and other elements characteristic of informal commerce.”
Pablo Piantini, president of Anje, said each country would have to come to the negotiating table, defend their products, and define appropriate parameters for the phasing out of tariffs. He added, “An agreement with [Haiti] would be better than with the European Union, even with its additional 25 countries.”
FAI president Ignacio Méndez agreed, saying Dominican Republic had an obligation to sign an agreement with Haiti before any other nation due to the nature of their comm
Two weeks ago I visited the neighborhood of Washington Heights, New York, with my fellow fulbrigthers. I’ve met a lot of educated Dominicans who clearly understand the issues between Haiti and RD. We need to be more open one to each other and discuss faithfully about our people’s interests.
We need to promote more positive energy in both sides of the island. A basic dynamic of energy is that we attract who we are. The more positive energy we give off, the more we’ll magnetize to us. It works like this: violence attracts violence, happiness attracts happiness, love attracts love, and ... Peace attracts Peace...
Protest seems also to suggest that one will take step that a situation or an incident never happen again
If Dominicans say that the illegal taking over of their country and the killing of Dominicans by Hiatians should stop ,therefore those in Haiti who are protesting the recent event in the DT should fix Haiti so Haitians can stay home.
As we go through, we need to be aware of our dark side and try to heal it. Also we have to learn from our mistakes. I think it’s pretty easy for Haiti and DR to work together.
In fact, Haitian and Dominican authorities must work together and do not let space for extremists and corrupt businesses who are currently reigning on both sides of the border.
I am always confident in the positive side of every nation on the earth. Dominicans and Haitians are two culturally rich nations. We need to show the world how complementary and rich this island is !!! I cannot understand why in this 21st century Dominicans and Haitians cannot live together in a mutual understanding. The younger generation (Haitians and Dominicans) must step up to show the world we want to live in a harmonious and peaceful fashion.
“Whoever can see through all fear will always be safe”, Tao-Te Ching.
Haitians have became a nuisance in the DR.
We must defend and protect DR. We are under no obligation to recognize disobedience, law breakers, and rewarding violators by weakening our institutions and giving political power to those latrine holes!
WE MUST NOT FREELY GIVE AWAY OUR CITIZENSHIP
With regards to the decapitated Haitian, the Dominican was just reciprocating the action of the Haitian to the Haitian so that they get a taste of their own medicine!

I think this Congress is looking for a cover up (a populous census) to justify Jus Solis! We all demand JUS SANGUINI! We are not going to give political power to those violators that clearly bring despair to DR! Their numerical presence should be enough to send the message IF YOU GIVE ME A CHANCE, I WILL DECAPITATE YOU." And they will tell you, " WE COME IN PEACE" but then they bring the illiteracy, poverty, diseases, violence, antisocial acts, and autodestructive behavior to DR.
We must defend and protect DR. We are under no obligation to recognize disobedience, law breakers, and rewarding violators by weaking our institutions and giving political power to these latrine holes!

dominican haitian can talk freely no machetes.many opinions debates are treated by profesionals and comun individuals.congratulations guys.

Here's some truth......... the last time I was on vacation in the D.R about half of the TOURIST were from P.R. funny thing is the People from the D.R & P.R look alike.
And to think thousands of P.R's all over the U.S [ wonder how the U.S feels ] in fact the only real thing is the P.R gets more financial support form the U.S more then any other Island Nation.
My Grandparents where form the P.R.
I have an uncle who is Dominican and served with the P.R 65th Inf. and was wounded in North Korea during the War.
MORE TRUTH..... your doing the same BS thing IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS.
Question is how does one look and sound P.R ?
Even Mexico has an illegal problem with San Salvador and her other Central American Countrys.
YOU WANT MORE ?
PR has a problem with Dominicans? Let them deal with it as they think it best. WE WILL WELCOME ANY DEPORTED DOMINICANS. IN FACT, WE THINK THEY HAVE NOT BUSINESS BEING IN PR. COME BACK HOME, DOMINICANS. PLEASE, COME.
TRUTHBETOLD, ARE YOU IGNORANT, OR JUST PLAY ON TV? There’s no Puerto Rican nationality.
As my P.R Grandfather used to tell my dad "Don't be a stink en Porta Ric an".
don't answer to the shitbetold cause he's not PRican, he's a another frustrated haitian with a personality disorder.
And the race card doesn't work cause the bahamian gov, the jamaican gov and the turks and caicos don't want their poor masses neither. and this are islands with a black population
They're a homeless plague looking for the next host
You always claim that , my grandparents were prs, trying to infer superiority. Listen, many Jamaicans can also claim to have brittish grandparents, many of them can. They are not brittish citizens. Many of them live in Great Britain illegal and routinely get deported back to JA.
Stop making the claim that you are prs and have to right to be there either because you speak spanish or some FANTASY GRANDPARENTS CLAIM. YOU ARE NOT PR US CITIZENS. THEY DON'T WANT YOU IN THEIR COUNTRY. SO GET THE STEPPING!
hERE WE GO AGAIN, I am not defending haitians, on the contrary I agree there exists a haitian problem in the DR.
I am protecting US interests because it's my tax money you're living on with your fake dominican papers. You can reference me as haitian all you want, You'll never change the fact that prs don't want you in their country. There's been violence against you overthere. Deal with reality, the fact is a puerto rican gets very upset when someone accuse them of being dominican.
Call me haitian all you want, or simply, just get your people out of PR. They're complaining you're making them look bad.

The US government has a dominican problem in PR!. Deal with that. Practice what you preach, leave our land. There's a recession in this country, we can't feed all you dominicans passing as prs with fake papers. Ennough is enough.
Good luck with your haitian problem, We're dealing with illegal dominicans on US soil.
Everyone loves Dominicans!!!
and no there are not that many Dominicans in PR.
Second of all PR belongs to USA one of the riches country.
DR is a poor country DR IS NO USA!
You should have an american tape a conversation with a pr, you'll be stunned.
I agree you have a haitian problem, but this is about dr and PR.
If we did have 0ur country with 999,999.00 + 999,999.00 + 2,000.00 Haitians we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Dominican population is not more even 1 % of the American nation population.
The Haitians in Dominican Republic are 20 % of the population.
The Haitians children abandoned and dumped into our soil by your women pass the hundred thousands.
If my compatriots in NY misbehave and break the US rules let them deport them. That will make me happy, less embarrassment for me.
Is this the type of gene pool we want in our future generation, savage beasts’ genes?
Do we want the enemy walk among us? Because yesterday was this peaceful hard working Dominican men decapitated first by this Haitian savage beast, tomorrow can be you mother or father, your daughters or sisters, your uncles or grandfather, your kids, or yourself.
So are we going to seat down and see what happens?
We need to deport all the Ngos that have not done any work for the Dominican people, those needs to go first, other wise the tigeres of the barrios will take care of them too.
We need to force the government to mobilize our military to the border and seal the damn border once for all.
And last we need to put in power the next president that can resolve this Haitian immigration problem for good.
The problems begins and ends with the businesses in PR that keep hiring illegal dominicans. As for your plan of military to guard the shores of PR, I don't think pres. Obama would approve. Good plan though! Hope it works for you.
So DR.
NO INSULT INTENDED.....
Wow ! you sound like the name from the movie roots [ in the mid 70's I meet Alex Haley, a wonderful Human Being ], many kid-napped used and abused how truly sad. Check out the other African Nations with fighting and racial cleansing to no end like Somalia with no real Government, run and controlled by War Lords. The end result is what you get when 3rd World nations follow the World Capitalistic mentality by any means possible of Power and big bucks, the best way to attack the Drug problem is to not use them in the first place.
At least you prefer our cocaine and putas instead of your own, at least for know. I wonder ? do you have a strong connection with Obama who is considered by most accounts a real 1/2 Afro-American.
Truthbetold the P.R is next, they'll just join up with the current Drug users and dealers.
NO COUNTRY IS IMMUNIZED FROM THIS DRUG BULL S*** and the monies generated, We all must do our share to eliminate this World Problem.
-haitians and dominicans are the same people, separated by two different (the slave master's) languages!!!
-hello you are both the descendants of african slaves!!!
-you both discriminate against other african cultures (i.e. jamaicans, puerto ricans, african-americans, etc)
-you both discriminate against the darker skin members of your own people!!!
-you both are playing into the plan, divide and conquer!!! and are too ignorant to realize it!!!
-the oppressor doesn't care what language(s) you speak, we are all n*ggers in there eyes!!!
-you will both stay poor, because you refuse to accept who you are and unite the island!!!
-dominicans, you will never be white or spanish, the jheri curls fool no one!!!
-haitians, no matter how much you turn your nose up towards other african cultures, you will never be accepted by oppressor!!!
-my dominicans and haitians brother and sisters, i love you!!! please wake up and save yourselves!!! god bless all african p
Agape I agree with you.
If only half of your fellow trolls will see it that way, Haitians need to focus all their effort in Haiti, to bring it back to a level in which the country can become an equal partner not a burden to DR.
All this morons here playing the race card and looking for understanding are a buch of cowards and vende patria, If this ungrateful dogs will have the same views as agape maybe haiti will lift itself out of the economic slump that is been for the past 75 years. Thing will be very different if that was the case, 'cause this is not about race is about survival and scarce opportunities.
and tell me why there is no outrage by this ungrateful trolls directed towards Jamaica's gov.
http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20080622/lead/lead5.html
hypocrites!!
Another thing, Whites have the right to see us as they want. Why should we tell them how to think of us? NO, sir. We respect people's different points of view, even if the reject us. We are self-sufficiente in our national pride. NO, Haitians in DR. Why is that such an disturbing statement?
1. Limit the Haitian presence to 125000 at any given time. No more.
2. Don't accept the so called Haitian-Dominicans. That's an oxymoron.
3. Return the rest to Haiti as soon as possible
4. Creat an artificial lake along the border to produce energy and raise sharks
5. Crimanilize illegal migration on both sizes of the island. Including, attempted migration.
Why don't you take care of helping those aids ridden Africans, those malnourished bulging bellybuttons parasites inflated belly kids brothers of yours?
you are a Haitian adn we know who you are. Trust me on this one Germans do like Haitians at all. Why do you think they do not go to Haiti instead.
Let's get something clear, we DOMINICAN don't care what anybody think about us,
don't give a damn, and won't give a s...h...i....t iT IS NOT OUR PROBLEM WHAT ANY BODY THINK. THAT IS YOUR OR THEIR PROBLEM!
As you may know lot of Dominicans when they come to
USA they come open arms and in part embrace the black American music and partially the culture.
