Imagine what the average poor Juan and Juanita are experiencing if the better off in the better neighborhoods are being mugged.

What function does Sonia de Moya have at the US Embassy? Perhaps she can now get her employer to hire some of Alejandro Williams bodyguards as protection while he is in NY (75% time). I hope she was not hurt to badly. To hold someone up in the parking lot at BellaVista Mall takes cojones or an inside contact (that is the covered parking). If on the street it is not as safe. perhaps it was a payback by one of the recent deportees?

Well put Ricardolito. Soon enough our bigoted brothers will be blaming someone other than the thugs that did this.

Where are the Real Estate pushers now who are promoting DR as a very safe place and where crime happens only in the ghettos. A friend of mine had his restaurant broken into past week, even though he pays a watchman and another friend had his inversol stolen. Crime is rampant here and nobody can spin the reality. More beheading are needed!

LOL, thank you. DR is a beautiful country, really is, but the corruption and the crime are overshadowing the natural beauty this island has to offer. A shame.

Nothing but another excuses for the "chicken eating in Charge" to request that DR be put in the watch list of high crime countries. Josean, hope you drop dead from swine flu.

This is bad karma for refusing tourist visas, requiring DNA exams and more ridiculous degrading humiliating saga drama from the US government gustapos to innocent citizens! Payback is hell Puta! What goes around comes around.

Sure Cuba, why not just give visas to anyone who wants one, better yet, the embassy officials could throw them out the windows and watch the people chase and fight over them like hungry Somalis trying to get a bag of beans.

zak325 Yes, that is exactly what was going on. However, these days persons are more wise and understand that USA is not worth coming to anymore. This will please people like you of course. The losers are the ones that need to come for family reasons or worse yet, spouses or fiance's to be with their family. The current ineptness and unwillingness of the USG to comply with their own laws, for a multitude of reasons, is to overwhelmingly deny these visas and again for various reasons of which most all that I have seen are mindless. The loses are the family on both sides of the water. The sad part too is that most Americans do not understand or realize this is happening and/or do not care because the attitude of Americans is "if it does not effect me, then I don't care".

Josean Antonio1,

I haven;t heard of this new list of "High crime countries". When did Washington dub this term and create and investigative body or oversight mongrol for this phenomena? Educate me, please.
