Santiago.– Dominican authorities arrested two people in the northwestern city of Mao of who stole farm animals and then dressed them in children's clothes to avoid detection.
According to the Police, the thieves had been tracking for seven months, but it was not known the way in which they were operating. The police arrested Milagros Aracelis Castillo Cabrera and Dionisio Alberto Lopez, both 23, who were using a motorcycle to transport a sheep dressed in baby’s clothing and shoes and which the woman was pretending to feed milk from a baby’s bottle.
The animal, which was being taken through Mao in broad daylight, was outfitted in a t-shirt, pants, sports shoes and a child’s cap. The animal had been stolen from a farm located in the municipality of Maizal.
“Some people commented that there were couples who were using motorcycles to transport children that looked like extra-terrestrials,” a police officer serving in Mao told the press.
The officer said that the authorities did not pay much attention at first to the reports, since many Dominicans who live near the border with Haiti are superstitious. Another farmer, Jose Fernandez, said that four months ago unknown thieves stole two small pigs from his pen, one of them was found two hours later in a near yard wearing throw-away diapers, pants and a child’s shirt.
