Presidents Fernandez and Chavez in the Summit at St. Kitts.
SANTO DOMINGO.- While several sectors demand that the Government clearly explain the negotiations for the sale of a 49% stake in the country’s only refinery (Refidomsa) to Venezuela, its president Hugo Chavez announced he will come to the Dominican Republic, as concern grows of his growing influence in the country.
Chavez will reportedly visit the country on June 30 to participate in the activities to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Juan Bosch, the late leader and founder of the ruling PLD party.
The Venezuelan chief executive, who has quoted Bosch in several of his speeches, has confirmed his visit, according to newspaper Diario Libre, citing a source.
Chávez, and president Leonel Fernandez would participate in an activity in Congress where he would be received with honors, among other events.
Yesterday opponents to the negotiations said the deal would give Chavez the faculty to direct the country’s energy policy and cautioned that it must be studied and debated by Congress.
The business leader Lisandro Macarrulla, president of the National Business Council (Conep), announced that they’ll evaluate the decision this week whereas its secretary Maribel Gassó, said it’s impossible to base an opinion when the negotiations are unknown.
The negotiations will allow the country to be included in a network of plants that Venezuela builds as part of the oil deal Petrocaribe, through which Caribbean and Central American nations buy Venezuelan crude and refined products under soft terms.
The Dominican Government owns 100% of Refidomsa after it acquired 50% from Shell for US$110 million earlier this year.

One has to ask ! neat.........another part of the DR to owned by a outsider, who didn't see that coming....The Dr selling their Heart & Soul again, what else is new. Another part that bothers me is that Chavez will receive Honors & awards from the DR Congress for what ? while the negotiations are still unknown ? you gotta be kidding ! I SMELL A RAT, AGAIN !!!!. I could see it now the DR soon to be influenced by Hugo-a-go-go. Imagine what a Oil Free Dependency DR would be like.....The DR should cut it's oil consumption in half as a protest. Sad day indeed for the DR one has to wonder what power or influence would Hugo-a-go-go have over DR Politics, one really has to wonder. I PRAY and can only hope for the best for the DR, GOD SAVE US.

Why would they sell it? They are charging what ever price per gallon that they want. I wish I had a business where you could charge any price and not lower prices even when your purchase price is down.

Es la deuda acumulada de República Dominicana con Venezuela por el suministro de petróleo a través de Petrocaribe, que cancelará con caraotas y otros servicios.
Or do you think Chavez will get his piece of the refinery to wipe out the debt the DR has????

I got a great idea where both Country's can benefit......Why not trade Hookers and Brugal for oil instead, those are what we call real cash crops anyway, with the "feels good, do it" mentality in the DR we'll never run out of neither, it's a win win situation for the DR. At the same time with the food we save we can make sure no one in the DR goes hungry and reed our self's of our National Shame at the same time, then THE TOPPER demand Hugo-a-go-go to do his share of stopping the Drug trade into the DR. WHAT A CONCEPT.
THE DR NEEDS TO FIND ALTERNATIVE FUEL and POWER OPTIONS.

Beware of Leonel!!
Kneeling to the tyrant king Castro and now getting on all fours to Chavez ,his true colours are coming out!
The sinister (Latin for left) elements have learned from their last attempts at domination and now they talk a pro business talk with a crucifix in hand and mention the word democracy while slowly changing laws to allow the "popular" changes that allow their "alternative democracy".
We must keep an eye on these people because as one high ranking member of the PLD once told me regarding their first victory; "we never imagined gaining power via the polls" ,in other words they planned to gain power via violence and the democratic system is merely a convenient vehicle to achieve their goals but just like their brethren throughout Spanish America they will discard democracy once it is no longer necessary.
We will be watching you LF and if you make the wrong moves you will make the 65 war look like a picnic.

Careful Pepe!! If you keep pushing your head so far up your right "sobaco" it's going to come out of your clavicle. You will look stupider than how you sound. Doesn't your own "grajo" bother you? Would you rather go back to Hipolito? I have a hunch your answer is yes.

Threeeye,I can tell your level of intelligence by your response and it is not much higher than a Bonobo!
I would not normally vote for Hipolito or the PRD but if Leonel continues jumping to the far left and looking the other way while Haitians inundate my country I would vote for the lesser of two evils.
BTW I would analyze this sentence "You will look stupider that how you sound" because it has a boomerang effect making you look like the perfect idiot you are!

I'm used to dealing with uneducated people like you who somehow twist reality attempting to make the most brutal and inhuman ideology (communism an leftism in general) with over 140 million DIRECT deaths in half of the last century alone appear as benevolent ,your heroes Stalin,Mao,Pol Pot ,Ceaucescu ,Castro,Sendero Luminoso,FARC/ELN etc. have shown the world what your filthy disgusting ideology is all about and to coin a Dominican expression "mono aunque se vista de seda mono queda" .
It is typical of those of sinister thoughts to be so brainwashed as you are and yet you all consider yourselves open minded while you swallow whole the propaganda from Granma. You still are so ignorant that you believe in fairy tales like marxist Utopia ...that takes alot of faith! especially since it has failed EVERYWHERE while simultaneosely wiping out the civil liberties of anyone who does not believe in the historical failure of your twisted ideals.

Leonel better think well before getting to close to an animal like Chavez ,because a large part of his support was actually anti Hipolito and he is playing with fire .
He has demonstrated that he does not have any balls to confront what he is playing with and he would surely have his panties in a knot.

Wow!!! I am truly amazed at the acuteness and objectivity of your perception Pepe. You have truly defined me in these short moments. Not only have you concluded that I am uneducated, a communist, and have superpowers, but you even know my heroes. Also that I have been brainwashed, harbor sinister thoughts, and swallow Cuban propaganda. Do you also know my sex and age? Take a shot, but let me ask you one last question before I let go of your balls. This methodology you used to analyze me, is it the same one you use to analyze everything else????

Typical ignorant rant! this bozo responds to comments made on other subjects without identifying his "reasoning" .I wondered why this bonobo would attack me so strongly when I did not say anything personal towards him or anyone else for that matter but he already had his bile building up though his neurons cannot muster an intelligent counterpoint he becomes rabid like his bonobo relatives ,begins frothing at the mouth and looses control.
