Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic.- Two men died of smoke inhalation Tuesday afternoon after they torched a house where they hid an undetermined amount of drugs, in an attempt to avoid arrest by the Drugs Control Agency (DNCD).
The deceased, together with two detainees who survived when narcotics agents pulled them from the flames, set fire to the drugs in the house located in the Casa Club Miramar, in the seaside town Juan Dolio (east), after firing on the DNCD agents.
The DNCD said the shootout took place as its agents were staking out the house waiting for Assistant DA Alejandro Frias to proceed with the search.
Frias said the fire completely leveled the house and the drugs, presumably cocaine and other evidence, except an Uzi machine gun, a 9 millimeter pistol and a Toyota 4Runner SUV.
Nelson Miguel Echevarría (Corazon), 53, and Francisco Castro (Danny), 25 are under arrest, whereas the two bodies were transferred to the Forensics Lab.

I hope this means FOUR less Drug dealers on the Streets of the DR, and let justice be served on the surviving two. Shoot out with Police ? burning drugs to avoid arrest ? were they high on their own merchandise ?
O.K ! at least from all reports so far those two died, died by their own hands. I just hope the Public sees the real tragic nature of Drug dealing and don't make them into some sort of HEROES as they have done in the past. That would really be a Tragedy.

they must have been high when starting the fire. Miro, these two that died probably have been replaced. These guys come and go... as long as the main guy is still there the operations will continue. The main guy is probably in his pent house drinking sipping some rum

you would think that they had an escape route. They probably started the fire at both exits, and I bet the building had steel bars on all of the windows

I cant imagine why there would be steel bars on the windows is there a crime problem there ?

Thank GOD most Drug dealers can't think straight anyway especially IF there using what there selling. Poverty and Crime go hand in hand. If and when I ever live in the DR rest assure I'm be one of those legal gun owners.

Once again no drugs confiscated. Probably corrupt DNCD agents set them up to kill dealers not playing the way they wanted them to. Never the less, two less scumbags on the streets.

danny,
they can watch you when you go out and break in while you are gone. I like a condo since you do no need the bars on the windows

Now.... the Word is out, that this was a total FU*K UP by the PN & DNCD! The house belongs to someone else, not the two stiffs. All the items were planted by the cops, as the owner of the house is a Puerto Rican who is not even here in the DR. Can anyone confirm this story?

We know that DR is not a big country and to stop the drug drug trafficking that's going on in our country we need to clean our own police department, The Corruption in our little Island need to stop and the President need to be more involve in this type of this. They need to star doing background investigation on those people that are coming back to DR for distance places cause probably they do not have criminal charges in DR but in other country they are killer, rapist, and every other things that you can think off,
