SANTO DOMINGO.- “Forget warnings from the IMF, the OECD and George Soros. You know your currency is well and truly down the swanny when even drug dealers are refusing payment in it,” reads the caption under a telegraph.co.uk headline today, in which cites Dominican Republic as an ever growing drug trafficking “hub.”

It also cites Rob Kirby, forensic analyst at Kirby Analytics in a report entitled US Gold, Going, or Completely Gone? It says almost 3,000 metric tons of "very suspicious" gold compounds were exported from the US in 2008. “Paul Mylchreest, of the Thunder Road Report, notes that a very suspicious 174 tons of gold compounds were exported to the Dominican Republic – that well known hub of the world gold trade."

Telegraph.co.uk, adding sarcasm to question such an unusual amount of gold shipped to the small Caribbean nation, also quotes the review Richard Long: Heaven and Earth at Tate Britain, "Maybe these gold compounds really are used in gold paint and that artist who normally puts colourful tarpaulins around islands and buildings has painted the whole of the Dominican Republic gold," Mylchreest ponders. "I'll go and check Google Earth."

“But, he reckons the transformation of the Dominican Republic into a key staging post in the cocaine trade between South America and the US, is a far more likely,” a statement which agrees with affirmations by the Dominican government’s Advisor on Drugs, Marino Vinicio Castillo, on the traffickers’ growing use of the country as a bridge to ship narcotics to the U.S. and Europe.

If the people in charge of stopping the drug trade weren't the ones doing it for the biggest profits we would not have these problems. Government corruption at its finest.

I dont know what it is with this individual in the U.K. Lets not forget that England has survived by trading in opium for centuries, trafficking of slaves, mercenaries, pirates, etc. Whoever you are in the U.K. get yourself a mirror. Also note that the people using the Dominican Republic as a bridge for their dirty deeds, are NOT dominicans, in fact many are british. Thank you.

The people n charge of the drug trade are well protected by the DEA....

Don't fool yourself into thinking anything else.

Look back to ole Ronny Regan and his croonies who have been using the Nothern Passage Route for decades.

Why is that the drugs can fly to the DR and sail into SF...that would some real help...

Intro the DEA...

Think about, were the drugs there before the 1980's

NO...

The Generals and ex-Generals have been running the RD drug trade with the Columbian cartels for years, and EVERYBODY knows it , including Leonel and the US government.

@misterblue "Also note that the people using the Dominican Republic as a bridge for their dirty deeds, are NOT dominicans, in fact many are british. Thank you."

Noooo, Dominicans have nothing at all to do with it, we are all pure as Snow White (the kind you put in your nose).
Quirino...you know that criminal mastermind that was only a Captian? ...Florian Feliz....just to name two that got caught.

All those killed in the Paya massacre? Not a Brit in sight. Dominicans and Colombians.

As jasfalon said above : "The Generals and ex-Generals have been running the RD drug trade with the Columbian (sic) cartels for years, and EVERYBODY knows it , including Leonel and the US government."

Amen.

Dont just talk . . . . . . . . . .ACT . . . . . . . .if you do in fact know the names of ANY corrupt officials, go ahead and report them . . . . . .even it is here on this forum. Mention: names, times, places, descriptions, etc. Do not remain silent . . . . you will do everybody a world of good, that is our civil duty. We have rights and responsibilities to our nation, the world, each other. We are stronger together than divided. As dominicans, we must defend our nation of any intentional and malicious reports from outsiders, be they british or martians. Please lets keep our problems to ourselves, lets solve them amongst ourselves. Again, God Bless Our Dominican Republic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
