Santo Domingo.- The Carol Morgan School will resume classes tomorrow Wednesday, after six confirmed cases of the AH1N1 virus led its management to close it for one week.

Newspaper El Caribe reports that around 46 students of the country’s leading U.S.-curricula school had symptoms of respiratory problems and were placed under observation.

Meanwhile the school Babeque Santo Domingo, on Independencia avenue, has yet to announce when it will reopen, after it’s administration also closed it for one week of the virus scare as well.

Why is this referred to as US School? Is it not a school in the Dominican Republic with a curriculum in English? Or are they front for something else?

If you can afford it and want a biligual "American Education" then "Caro" Morgan is the place for your kids. It is the closest you can get to a college prep education outside of the US. I believe it is accredited and monitored by a highly recognized US regional association and the diploma is readily transferable and accepted by most if not all American colleges and universities. It 's basically a private, non-public American high school on Dominican territory.

Daddy Yankee? Yeah, he went to prep school in the DR he stayed over after a concert to complete a GED. He did a semester at Carol Morgan and finished at Philip Exeter Andover Academy in New England. He will be or is thinking about applying to Harvard, Princeton or Yale this fall. Let wish him luck.

Really.....didn't know that. I like to see a celebrity focusing on self improvement versus just paper chasing. Makes him a positive influence.

about US$10k/yr

And Carol Morgan did not fully reopen. Elementary has called off the rest of the year. Only High School kids will go back, for final exams.
