Santo Domingo. - The National Business Council (Conep) president clarified that he isn’t opposed to the sale of the 49% stake in Dominican Republic’s only refinery (Refidomsa) to the Venezuela petroleum company, (PDVSA).

Lisandro Macarrulla, responding to Hacienda minister Vicente Bengoa’s statement on Friday that those business leaders are “vultures” circling about, said the transaction in itself doesn’t concern them and that it could even be advisable for the nation, “although what does worry them is the partner which the Dominican government has chosen in this occasion.”

Macarrulla, interviewed on the State-owned Television Corporation CERTV, noted that Venezuela’s government is very hostile with business in his own country, and could eventually be reflected in Dominican Republic if what he called Chavez’s contradictions continue.

Charge him NOTHING and give him NOTHING and keep him out of our lives.

Seriously, can anybody see any good, whatsoever, of having this failed leader having any say at all in the Dominican Republic.

Hypothetically, if science were to come up with a way to eliminate the need for oil, exactly how important would this guy with red beany be?

Fernandez states the obvious

During a meeting with members of the government's ethics committees, President Leonel Fernandez admitted that public administration in the DR is lacking in the organization and discipline that would make public institutions more efficient in meeting the country's needs. He added that public institutions are missing a uniform system, similar to that of the private sector. Fernandez went on to say that weaknesses in the current system have not allowed the prevention of corruption in public administration.
To back up his arguments, Fernandez presented the business model of fast food conglomerate McDonald's, which runs all its stores worldwide with the same standards of operation.
The President said this must be implemented in the DR, but conceded that political will was needed in order to achieve this.

The best way to handle thePoliticians would be for everyone to BOYCOTT the next seriesof elections. What would the Politicval Parties do if NO-ONE voted for them?? Would the Prsident then rule by Executive Orders, or silently call for another round of elections, with Primaries being the nominating devices followed by runoff elections?
The ENTIRE ELECTORAL PROCESS must be changed to one of a more democratically run system, wherein NONE of thpolitical parties receive any money from thegovernment coffers to finance their lieing candidates.
Additionally, any candidate caught handing out money, food, tin roofs, etc. be immediately, and forever banned from EVER holding ANY Political Office, elected or appointed.
It's time that these sleezeball Politicians get their come-uppance, from the President all the way down to the lowest dog-catcher.
