SANTO DOMINGO.- The practice by Dominican Republic’s law enforcement officials of “pleading” with the citizens to not break the law has also recruited the Metropolitan Transit Authority (Amet) chief Rafael Bencosme Candelier/
The officer made his “plea" for motorists to refrain from running the red light on Sunday, when he revealed that 70% of the fines are for that infraction.
But even president Leonel Fernandez was caught without his presidential pants on when despite admitting widespread government corruption, only made “a call” to society to “revamp” public administration.
Last week National District prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso also “copped a plea” when he announced the criminal activities of a forgery ring within the Central Electoral Board’s Legal Department, but failed to file charges alleging that he “notified” the heads of that agency for their “recommendation.”
“This is very worrisome and for which daily Amet agents are very watchful to keep drivers from committing this infraction that endangers many lives," Bencosme said, adding that motorcycle drivers are another “headache,” by using the overpasses and tunnels “indiscriminately endangering their own lives.”
He also made the “call” on drivers to respect the traffic laws and “reprimanded” those who don’t renew their license and drive with expired documents.
