SANTO DOMINGO. – The companies grouped in the ONEC Tuesday slammed what they called the Government’s “squandering” and warned that the initiative to grant an amnesty to employers who failed to pay their quotas to the Dominican Social Security System (DSSS) is a violation of the law.
ONEC president Pedro Perez González said the Government sends a negative message by approving a new amnesty in less than two years. “ONEC has never favored the reiterative amnesties, to speak of a new amnesty in less than two years is going to represent (a loss) of around 8 billion pesos to the State, it’s not good signal. The State is called to set the example."
President Leonel Fernandez yesterday signed into Law number 87-01, an amnesty for private employers with delayed or omitted quota payments for their workers and employers’ contributions to the (DSSS), and 179-09, on the deduction of schooling expenses on the parents’ Income Taxes.
Perez added that the Government is more efficient at getting into debt then at trimming spending. "The country has arrived at a regime of squandering."
