Santo Domingo.- The American Kerry Kennedy, daughter of the late Robert Kennedy, met Monday with Dominican officials to discuss the situation of Haitian immigrants in the Caribbean country.

The human rights activist met with Electoral Board (JCE) president Julio Cesar Castaños, to state her concern with the situation of his country’s undocumented Haitians.

Castaños said he told Kennedy that there’s a need to conduct a census since the number of undocumented Dominicans of Haitian ancestry isn’t known.

Kennedy went to Castaños’ office accompanied by human rights activist Sonie Pierre, a Dominican of Haitian origin, awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Prize in Washington for her social work in 2006.

The two women, who didn’t talk to the press, then visited Labor minister Max Puig, where they discussed the work situation of Haitian immigrants in the country.

Puig pledged his country’s commitment "to cause the respect of all of the immigrant workers’ rights."

A fact that proves that impunity is not a DR-exclusive problem. Right Dobbsie?

Where are the french during these discussions? They are the ones who threw this problem at us in the first place!

They're laughing at us while enjoying all the riches that they extorted out from that unfortunate country. Let the dominican pendejos take care of the rotten carcass.

Careful Dobbsie. You wouldn't want the PC police to get you and throw you in the gulag like last time.

When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
And when Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, they steal your heart away

Puig pledged his country’s commitment "to cause the respect of all of the immigrant workers’ rights." Demogogory, pure diplomatic BS. This Puig guy is full of it. Let's compare his words to action. Does anyone know or remember how well he performed his duties while minister of the environment, the same job Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal holds today?

A dysmal failure, guillermone, were we to compare his tenure with the short time that Jaime has on the post (and in which the latter has done so much good, excepting for the cementera case), cuz' he didn't have the cojones to denounce the people that wanted to change the protected areas law on Congress. And worse, a lot of people have told me that his little party (Alianza Por la Democracia, APD) was at the head of the scandals regarding the use of haitian inmigrants as voters in the last couple of elections.

Lautaro, so funny about the French frogs leaving us only the carcass. Nos dejaron el hueso sin 'na de masa. Now we have to take care of their bills in intensive care, with no insurance.
There have been sighting reports about Misie Carcasse Pie, the Haitian resident zombie in Los Guandulitos, LOL.

They're like those irresponsible teenage hooligans, which, after enjoying all the pleasures out of an unfortunate girl, are the first ones to flee when this one comes to them with the news of a pregnancy. Their first thought being "it's not my problem", or "let others take care of the mess".

Lautaro, very well put. But you forgot the following......
And then those pregnant women by the irresponsible French descendants get on a tap tap, and come to a DR hospital to give birth and demand the DR be their child's foster parents.
