SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Republic’s and Haiti’s Health ministers Bautista Rojas and Alex Larsen yesterday agreed to bolster the border control to prevent the spread of the AH1N1 virus in the island.
In the 3-hour meeting held in the border town Jimaní the officials said the preventive measures to benefit the island, after a report by epidemiologists from both countries found the need to coordinate efforts to confront health problems in that region.
Rojas suggested that Haiti adopt some of the measures applied in the Dominican Republic.
The Pan-American Health Organization’s (OPS) representative in the country Cristina Nogueira, and in Haiti, Yazelhi Genay also participated in the meeting.
Local officials, international consultants and Health technicians from the Dominican Republic and Haiti met in Pedernales last week, to extend the coverage against hepatitis B for health workers, to vaccinate risk groups against influenza, and against diphtheria and tetanus for construction and farm workers.

We need to sit down with the people in charge (UN) because coordinating with people who have no control whatsoever is ridiculous!!
These are important matters and should not be meetings to make believe the Haitians can actually do anything about their situation..

Hey Brother as far as letting the UN handling this DR problem, are you kidding me ! since when has the UN Historically handled any problem effectively, always too little, too late. Just think the US fits most of the bill $$ on world wide UN interventions anyway. What if due to our great OBAMANOMICS the US just simply closed the UN building in New York and disassemble the UN or let some other Country fit the bill $$. NOW back to the DR problem REMEMBER......The UN can not control personal Human habits or behavior only Humans living clean lives can.
Pepe, get real the UN can't even agree on solutions more then half the time anyway.

To Pepe32: Currently, Haiti is under quasi-international control (U.S., France, Canada, Brazil, Peru etc...). The mission of the UN in Haiti is to keep the peace, train and recruit the Haitian National Police. They also facilitate companies to take whatever Haiti's treasures are such as gold, bauxite, silver and other artificats found in the deep sea. They also facilitate the importation of goods to Haiti. Haiti virtually does not produce anything. They import everything. International companies importing to Haiti are making lots of money off that country. Now, one can understand that "the International" is making lots of money from Haiti. In addition, the UN has a big payroll which Haiti is paying for. The so called government in Haiti is totally ineffective. All they do is argue all day without taking action or the only action they take is steal the taxed revenues. They do not even pick up the garbage nor clean the streets nor put merchants under flea market tents.

So, Haitians citizens should not expect much from their government. If they are not willing to pick up garbage in the streets, you cannot expect them to be able to do anything at all. If anyone is going to help control the virus at the border will be the UN. Definetely not the useless Haitian government. Just the other Day while shopping at the Local Super Market I could not help but notice A Young Black Lady with 4 Children shopping with a cart full to Top with high end Grocery's products shrimp, Steaks etc..etc..

I estimated dollar wise all 4 Children & Mother wearing Gucci, Nike, approx. $4,300.00 usd's plusin clothes alone.
When it came time to pay She reached into her $350.00 purse and pulled out Her Oh'Blama card [welfare card] and payed, with smile to boot. After my self paying at the check out stand off I go to my car, and wouldn't you know it, She was parked 2 cars next to my car, again all smiles as She puts her grocery's into her Silver Cadillac Escalante w/$4,000.00 plus rims & tires. Maybe it's me but....Most Blacks in America NOT ALL pray & praise a all green paper GOD called "Mo Money".
Racism is not a all White thing any more. Crocks and Deceivers come in all shapes, colors and gender.
