SANTO DOMINGO.- The civic movement “Toy Jarto, pero creo en mi pais,” (I’m sick of this, but I believe in my country) filed a complaint against. Segura Radhames, as vice president of the State-owned power companies CDEEE, for refusing to disclose information, violating various articles of the Free Access to Public Information Law.

The complaint states that the CDEEE failed to disclose the Certified Audit on the Blackouts Reduction Program (PRA), requested on May 13, after the journalist Nuria Piera uncovered rampant nepotism and other regularities committed by then PRA director Marcos Lara.

Toy Harto president Elizabeth Mateo Perez filed the complaint in the National District Office of the Prosecutor, accompanied by the lawyers Reemberto Pichardo Juan, Hermes Guerrero, Alberto Paulino and Maredi Arteaga.

If convicted Segura faces up to 2 years in prison and a ban on exerting public positions for 5 years.

way to go.
Unfortunately none of these stealing individuals (Segura) will ever spend time in a DR jail.
Jail is only for the poor guy that stole a chivo to feed his family while the porkers steal and get medals.
Throw Segura in Jail and impeach Leonel.

Maybe thisis the start of a series of law suits that pave the way for a more treansparant government. Particularily at the Ministerial level, but more importantly at the working level.
I'm fairly certain that Radhames is noit in this mess by himself andit will be educational andinstructive to see how everything 'pans out' in the answer to the final equation.
It is because of the actions of your Government Officials that I am taking my Dominican Family out of this pig-pen filthy environment. I have hopes of being able to change their perceived standards of Government in operation for the better.
While I don't say the US Government does a helluva lot better, at least when one of the officials is caught/perceived to be dishonest, the matter is pursued to the ultimate end. There are plenty of recent cases to prove that statement.
Wish me luck.

Texas Bill:

While I've not yet lived in the DR, I do live in the US. I am planning to relocated to the DR in January 2009 because the freedoms we Americans have become accustomed to are evaporating faster than raindrops in the sun.

Re your comment "when one of the officials is caught/perceived to be dishonest", I wish that were true. If it were, then Barney Frank, Pelosi, Reed, all the Czars, White House, 70% of Congress/Senate would be in the process of investigation. And they're not. Our country is being taken over by extreme Progressives at such a speedy rate that it's hard to even process it.

If you've chosen Texas as your new home, you've made a good choice. Texas is one of the states working hard to uphold the Constitution, unlike many others. I hope that all goes well for you and your family in the US, and hopefully the elections in 2010 will begin a return to individual freedoms in the US.
