SANTO DOMINGO.- The Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) and the Navy last night said small plane  a unknown material on board, presumably cocaine, fell to the sea at dawn yesterday, six miles from the southern community Matanzas, Baní, and found one body presumably a crewmember.

In a joint operation the Interagency Task Force recovered 120 packages of the drug, said separately DNCD president Gilberto Delgado and Navy chief Luis Homero Lajara.

Valdez said a plane was detected in the zone before midnight Monday, prompting the agents to form “a cordon of vigilance" from Pedernales (southwest) to Palenque Beach, San Cristóbal, "but the apparatus didn’t manage to airdrop the load it brought, but everything indicates that it crashed at sea, five miles off the coast."

He added that the plane fell to the water after 2 a.m. Tuesday.

I think those packages are "Dulce de Leche or Dulce de Guyaba". Look for these sweets to be sold on the streets within a week. Welcome to the DR.

Was it with "unknown material on board" or was it cocaine?
Did it fall into the sea after 2am or at dawn?
5 miles or 6 miles off the coast?
An apparatus or a plane?

Don't know where they copied this from but as is often the case the translation leaves much to be desired and the report is full of inconsistancies

Grosero, that was my first thought ! Airplanes just don't fall out of the sky. There is a continental line that any military craft can cross and make a combat attack without warning on a certain line. But sometimes they make up crap as they go along so the laws are in favor of the attacker. The same law is in effect at the borderline of Mexico! Go figure!
