Santo Domingo.– The Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) arrested three Dominicans
and one Mexican with 98 kilos of cocaine distributed in 95 packages hidden in
their vehicle, just days after other foreigners have been arrested under similar charges.
DNCD chief Gilberto
Delgado said the Dominicans are Angel Felipe Franquis de los Santos, Roberto
Antonio Fabián Reynoso and Juan Francisco Santos, whereas the Mexican was
identified as Antonio Valencia Zapata.
According to the report, the four men belonged to a drug-trafficking network which used the Dominican Republic as a bridge to provide with drug other destinations.

WHAT.......A MEXICAN NATIONAL ?
A MILE STONE IN THE DOM. REP. HISTORY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT ON DRUG ARRESTS.
ARE WE NEAR A ARREST RECORD YET ?
IS THERE A MEXICAN / INTERNATIONAL DRUG TYPE MAFIA OPERATING IN THE DR ?
THE STAKES HAVE BEEN RISEN......DRUG BUST AFTER DRUG BUST.
MORE DRUGS TO BE DISCOVERED IN THE NEAR FUTURE ?
COULD THERE BE A LATIN-AMERICAN CONNECTION ?
If the DR is really serous on DRUG DEALERS, SMUGGLERS and APPREHENSION the DNCD should then focus more of there Man power and resources on the BIG BOYS, by patrolling the Southern coastal waters of the DR not just the Airports.
This Drug problem is not unique to the DR, This war must be fought on an International level with the Latin-American growing / producing Country's taking the lead. .
But as always it will be.....a little, to late.
GOD SAVE US !

I am happy they caught these 98 kilos and told us how much was found. Now they need to punish these people and find the people responsible for this shipment besides the people caught with it. The real boss would never be riding with their shipment its too dangerous.

The foreigners continue to bring in violence, drugs, environmental destruction, and defamation to DR!
We must be discriminant against the nationals of Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Middle East, and of course Haiti!

HANG THEM HIGH..........like the muslims will do, and in public, so the mfkers behind will think twice before doing that, or just cut their hands and they won't be able to do it again and nobody is going to give them a job, so they're going to die hungry.
There was a chief of police during the era de Trujillo call Comandante Ripley, he uses to cut one finger to thieves every time they were caught stealing so the society knows them by the fingers and avoid them and discriminates them everywhere, That was a good way to mark the bad guys.
Lets put a tatoo on the forehead that says what they are and we see what will happens.
Just Fk them.

i am glad it is the foreigners doing it. it warms the cockles of my heart to know that the three dominicans arrested were just innocent onlookers, caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

REALITY CHECK.....
98 kilos is only a drop in the bucket on the war on Drug smugglers, Dealers in the DR.
Take care.

mrios I am happy they stated the amount instead of portions so we have some accountability for how much was caught. I realize this is only a small amount and possibly some was taken before the 98 kilos was weighed but it is a step in the right direction.
If we ever cleaned up even some of the corruption my country would be much better for all of its citizens.

AllameusseGeneroso, Why be discriminant of ANY foreign national more than another? The persons are more than likely entering illegally via air or sea, therefore to be discriminant att he legal port of entry wouldn't help much. Look @ the Brits? Smuggling has no nationality boundaries. I am just curious why also you mention middle easterners? The would seem so far away and INdiscriminant. I don;t think the Taliban will be smuggling poppy into here. ...Just curious , that's all.

If LF doesn't get his act together fast on this issue Tourism will start to deteriate quickly. Not many tourists are flying into the war zones of Mexico lately.

mrios,
Keep wishing. The reason drugs make their way into the US is because of demand. The more conditions deteriorate inside the failed state, the more people will be using drugs to 'escape' their misery. Take Michael JAckson for example. Also, why is prescription drug use on the exponential rise inside the heavenly state? Answer; same reason-demand. It is sad there is so much demand for drugs in the US, illegal and legal. Alcohol use is no different. Why is the US the only country in the world with such high demand? A real self assessment is long overdue there and a resulting new approach to the failed drug wars that cost taxpayers $$ and still lose the battle in the end. I am not condoning the use of drugs or making an excuse for people who choose to use them. I am simply pointing out an alarming trend and "reasons" WHY the US is the only country that suffers from this problem to such a disproportionate amount. Funny the USG doesn;t address this isn't it?

Actually the US government does address the drug issue. Why do you think sentences for drug violations are fairly harsh in most parts of the U.S. Yes they should probably do more but good luck with that, people know the risk and do it anyway. Also, I believe the U.S. documents and reports their issues with illegal drug use to the UN and other organizations fairly regularly as seen on the recent UN report on world drug use (unlike many countries that don't report or under report). As far as them being the only country with drug use problems you're sadly mistaken. Iran has the highest per capita use with heroin and various other countries have major drug problems also. Narco Vessels are busted regularly heading towards europe from Venezuela/Colombia you just don't hear as much about them. The major difference with the U.S. is that large scale coca and poppy fields are not grown in the U.S. and Marijuana is actively eradicated.. therefore you have a huge importation demand.

VivaCuba,
No argument there. As long as there is a high demand and a chance to make BIG BUCKS there will always be those risking everything for a piece of the action.
And to think major Drug use and abuse all started in the 1960's with a whole generation of lost Youth trying to express them selves and define Life. The U.S is still a Country trying to define it's self.
