Santo Domingo.- Foreign Relations (SEREX) minister Carlos Morales yesterday warned that foreign service personnel who don’t attend or abandon their diplomatic or consular function without prior approval by an official authority will be suspended for 90 days without pay;

The warning comes after Dominican embassy in Nicaragua chargee d'affaire  Radhamés Reyes, on Thursday reiterated that SEREX has “a mafia” which steals checks of personnel in embassies abroad.

"I reiterate my complaint that there’s a mafia in the Foreign Ministry which subtracts the checks of staff abroad, incurring in thousands of evil actions and even charges a toll for prompt payment. It even issues and charges the checks of many people who for one reason or another, are no longer in the Foreign Service or have died years ago," the diplomat said.

Vasquez, in response to a SEREX press release which states that Reyes’ claims arise from him being accused of violating his duties, said that if those statements are true, why didn’t the Foreign Relations Ministry take action against him. "If it were for negligence and absence, half the Foreign Ministry and a third part of the ambassadors would’ve been of the payroll."

Thanks Morales Troncoso for your frim willingness to do the proper thing. 90 day without pay, that is really tough punishment for those who "don’t attend or abandon their diplomatic or consular function". How funny.!!!!

This is just not possible in the D.R . You would never get them back to work after 90 straight days at the Domino table .

Not enogh punishment :
Recall them to DR and then get rid of them after removing their diplomatic passports ,payments,& purks, .to make sure they don't stay abroad playing domino with their diplomatic immunity.

I have faith in Mr Trocoso's qualifications to hold the CHANCILERY as no other Dominican had or will have, since that runs in his family's blood line to be competent on his occupation for generation. Saying Troncoso was a synomim for diplomat of the highest caliber in DR. What i like about them is they are not there to represent any individual party but the NATION'S interest.

Perez;
You don't have to hide or be ashame of been what you are along with the rest of us 'Dominicans'. Remember you have good and bad in every nationality and we are not diferent. We have, had &
will have good and bad Dominicans. We just have to be optimistic enogh and better our culture
either by learning from others more educated than us or by studing to try to better ourselves w/o
losing our culture alltogether. I have been in this country close to 60 years and have picked up some good behavior from other Latin Americans . I have also been educated in this country since the 7th grade,went to RCA tech. and joined the US army where it did lots of good since i picked up a trade while there and they paid for my education there after under the GI bill and became a US citizen, Just because i have been here so long will not pick up the SPAN-GLISH spoken by the majority of immigrants Let's not copy from some European immigrants that refere to the USA as "America" EEUU in Spanish
